Time to focus on the future.  Lets beat out the D-rays & company for the #1 pick to land Pedro Alvarez (from Vanderbilt).  Scouts are calling him a once in a generation type of player with a Pujols ceiling, and he plays 3B as well.  Only 3-games behind the D-rays, this is definitely doable.

You mean like the Rockets tanking the season to land Ralph Sampson?  Oh yeah, that will go over really well with the owner.

Not to mention another local team that executed this strategy so well recently.

David Robinson got hurt and the team wasn't much without him, but the Spurs were not the worst team--they just got lucky with the lottery.

Yup.  The Rockets, however, were accused of purposedly losing games down the stretch to gain the chance to get Ralph Sampson (coin flip).  The following year, they were able to get Akeem Olajuwon because of the coin flip.  The league then inserted the draft lottery system to curtail shenanigans like the one pulled by the Rockets with Sampson (and not so much with Akeem).

I am back for post number 2.  So how do we fix the Astros? I'm open to suggestions. If you ask me they need a hardcore rebuilding which starts with the crappy farm system. Need some good drafts for once!!!

You gotta smack your own.  It's our policy.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Take it easy, I'm just trying to inject some fun into a dreadful season.  Sorry if I offended those still hoping for a miracle turnaround or those that think the whole season is somehow worth it because of biggio's 3,000.

So, we only watch the Astros now, and we can't offer suggestions on what should be fixed ... riiight.

Best advice I can give you.  Take a week and read through the entire site.  Don't post during all that time.  Then if you feel you have something to add, give it a try.

Right now, you're just trolling.

Read the fucking board first. Then post what you think 'injecting fun' might be.

To whom do you think you are offering suggestions?  If you want to discuss what the Astros should do differently fine.  Just cautioning you that you may not like the response you get with the "how should we fix the Astros" type rhetoric.  If you can handle it, fine.  Carry on.

Having learned everything there is to know about baseball, I think my erudition far outweighs that of people who're, you know, paid professionals.  Therefore, I'm going analyze what's wrong with the Astros (i.e. owner, management, and players) and find a solution (fire everyone and get new).  Or alternatively, suggest tanking to get Pedro Alvarez.  They seem like equally brilliant options--truly the product of wisdom beyond mere mortals' comprehension.

(Does this count as smacking?)

I'll admit to lusting after Vladimir Guerrero in 2000 when the Astros were on pace to lose about 1,729 games and an Expos contraction and dispersal draft were being seriously proposed...

JD compared Gunther to Vlad last night.  And if he keeps whacking fastballs at his eyes over the fence, I'll start to agree.  A little.

I don't know about Vlad, but he sure is fun to watch. The one he hit last night he picked up right off the front of the plate. It looked like he was fooled and decided to swing at the last minute and still pulled it - a real quick bat.
