He broke, they pitched out, he ran back to first and a great hook slide to the outfield side of the bag avoided the tag, but he was called out anyway.

Can Lee play first base?  Berkman isn't Roberto Clemente out there but he has to be better in left than Lee.  I love Lee's stick and his approach as a classic run producer, but Taveras' pop single that cost Sampson 2 runs a couple innings back looked like it should have been caught.  And Lee's lack of hustle would not be as noticeable at first.

Haven't heard them mention it.

It fell 20 feet in front of Lee, who was coming in pretty hard.

I think it was just a bloop. Berkman wouldn't catch that ball either.

Agreed.  It was in no man's land.  Although there are plenty of occasions to call Lee out for dogging it, I don't think that was one of them

The pitch that hit the ump was dang close to the same location as the one that the ump called a stike against Lee.

They're all tough to lay off when the zone is the way it is tonight.  Strike two to OP was a good 6 inches off the plate.

On a side note....I really like the Rockies' middle infield.  Matsui has really good range, and I love that Tulawitzki (or whatever) kid's arm.

If McLemore wasn't lolly gagging to cover 1B in the 6th, this is a different ballgame.

I'm not so sure that was Mc lollygagging as much as Loretta's super-soft toss to the bag.

Loretta didn't help him out, but he was WAY late getting to the bag.  I think he gave up thinking it was going to be a hit.  It cost a run.

I was coming home from dinner and listening to the game on XM at that point. Milo had Drayton in the booth, and Drayton's comment on that play was something like "McLemore didn't hustle over to the bag on that play." Given the way this season is going, I don't think I'd want to hear that critique from the man who signs my checks.

MLB doesn't make it obvious.  If you go to the recaps and click on the highlights, when the clip starts to play there is a URL at the top.  It's all cut and paste from there.  It's weird that once you direct link it, the URL is no longer at the top.  It's only there if you click the link from an MLB page.

shoetop high.

If you're wearing platform shoes, maybe.  Actually, I was just being polite.  Guess it looked fat before it began its dive.

What a finish!  More folks in the stands in the 9th THIS time than last night.

I'm not so sure that was Mc lollygagging as much as Loretta's super-soft toss to the bag.

LuAnn Combo platter, maybe?

Yes, that game also was awesome.

(I forgot I had paused an hour go and didn't realize I was behind the times until now).

Is there any way this isn't the start of a kick-ass run?

(Of course, even if they wind up 34-128... one hell of a pair of games, regardless.)

that is FOUR in a row off Fuentes...on this road trip.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Now if only there was one homerun that we could trace it all back to....

Pretty sure mine were in no danger of escaping my Biggio t-shirt and jersey.  But you should've seen this trophy bimbo sitting in the diamond boxes for #3000 last night.  When it finally occurred to me to take a picture for y'all, I couldn't get a good shot.  Let's just say she was leaving very little to the imagination--very low cut top, extremely short shorts and stiletto heels.  If she had gotten excited enough about the game during the few minutes she was actually in her seat and not in whatever exclusive party room they've got downstairs for the rich folks, I'm sure she would've been out of that top in a jiffy.  I can't believe y'all have got me noticing this crap now.  HH, check the TiVo, about 7-8 rows up, near the Astros on deck circle.
