Man oh man.  Channel 51 games right after the Astros in HD is something else.

This is like if I had my kid do instant replay using her Littlest Petshop pets and tapped out the game to me in morse code.

The game is "on" here in Houston, and it's still not really "on."

The audio and video are so bad, we can barely make out the graphics on a pretty decent 50" tv.

Actually, the audio is not bad for non-HD.  A lot better than FSSW was earlier in the season.

I may have to start drinking early again.  I'll put it to a vote.

2) No, please.  And post less.

Must be better where you are.  Here, it honestly sounds like we're listening to the game on a cheap transistor radio that is at the other end of a very long metal tube...underwater.

The video is okay, I guess. Consider, though, that pre-2005 the only games I ever watched were on 51. Via broadcast, not satellite as I'm getting it now.

The sound is both good and bad. The PBP/color is loud enough to where I can keep it at a normal level instead of the eardrum splitting level that it's ALWAYS at when I watch on FSH/FSSW. It does sound VERY tinny, though.

It's weird.  I would have assumed most people would say Nolan (especially baseball fans).  But the more I ask, I'm finding Willie.

I think 10 years ago, I'd have said Nolan, but (through no fault of Nolan's, actually), I'd have to say Willie now.

So, I'm too tired and drunk to really follow on the radio, despite finding the dulcet tones of Dave and Ray soothing. Do the Astros have any hits and/or baserunners yet?

It is going to take an absolute, certified miracle for the stros to score two runs tonight (which is necessary already) to tie the game.

Yeah, I noticed the crowd seems to think every fly ball a Cub hits is headed for Waveland Avenue.  They must sell a lot of beer at Wrigley.

Ausmus with the one hit.

It is going to take an absolute, certified miracle for the stros to score two runs tonight (which is necessary already) to tie the game.

A miracle (or a pitching change) I tell you.

That's probably the only positive news in that respect. Zambrano is at 97 pitches through 6. Not that that means much, but hey at least they've got his pitch count up.

Has Sweet Lou been riding him as hard as Dusty did?  I can't imagine it, but I'm guessing he'll go at least one more inning.

That sounded exciting.

The catch was practically self defense.  Then he turned around and fell to the ground with his glove on the bag.

OK- 26 games left till the all star break. Can Bidge get to 3,000 before the break?

I'm saying it looks like not right now.

I was hoping Woody getting through that half inning quickly would shorten the appearance of Larry the Cable Guy (whoever the fuck that is).  No such luck, they've invited him to stick around for the eighth.  Someone needs to die for that.

Larry the Cable guy couldn't possibly be a bigger douchebag.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Fontenot, 2B
Theriot, SS

That's tough.  A Pichon, a Fachon, and a Bordelon, and I've got a high school reunion.

I didn't think so either until I saw him sitting in the booth with a Cubs jersey on.  They told him there's a lot of his fans in the stadium tonight.  I was not surprised to hear that.

They may have to bring the structural engineers out to check the old ballpark tomorrow.  Didn't they have chunks of concrete falling in the concourses a year or two ago?

Just got home from work. No "normal" broadcast in San Antonio that I can find. Fortunately, I do have a 10ft C Band dish upon which I found the "Astros Baseball" broadcast targeted at Houston I guess. The big dish is good for 2-3 weird efforts per year. Oh well, go 'stros.

I remember a couple of spring trainings ago Stark pointed out that the Cubs could field an OF of 3 fake sounding frenchies.

IT was Jaque Jones, Juan Pierre and .....

Help me out with the 3rd fake sounding frenchie that was a cubbie.

Yeah, I've spent the last 20 seconds saying it outloud and can't even force myself to say Bye-OH, let alone think of people I know who say it that way.

Me and mah DOEg drank some BEE-yurh in the BYE-U.
