astros and fights

this is so out of character for the good guys. i remember once  hampton tackled someone when a fan came out to attack a player. but its like you can count the number of times in the history of the franchise they have brawled. maybe this is the new way to winning for the stros and they will show their testostrone and balls every time something happens.

What fight? Players came out one the field, but Lee and Corpas never got close to fighting.

You have watched a different franchise than I have.  Seems like there used to be one good brawl a year.  Most of them with Montreal for some damn reason.

Hell, for years I was convinced that was the only reason they kept Bob Cluck and  Matt Galante around.  That damn oompa-loopma could scrap.

As Robert Earl reminds us:

Quote
Later on the Astros were silently beating the living crap
out of Cincinnati on the TV above
and a little to the left of the great Hank Williams' head
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

The one that always stands out in my mind ended with Moises Alou (back when he was in Montreal) winging his helmet at the pitcher (I can't remember who), the helmet hitting Terry Collins in the forehead splitting him open, and Bagwell and Biggio tearing through dozens of players to get their hands around Moises' neck.

Now that's a group that meant business when they left the dugout. Drabek, Barfield, Brocail, Jones, etc...that's some serious enforcers. The current collection of choir boys are lacking an enforcer or two, well with the exception of Lee, maybe.

b/c bidge and bags were jealous they didn't get to split open Terry Collins head?

As much as I disliked Jimy's run here he was leaps and bounds better than Collins.

I'm sure some popes will tell me I'm wrong, but good gawd almighty I hated those two skips.

I remember reading some baseball (maybe general sports mag) mid 90's that had all the baseball teams measured by fists on a scale of 1 (weakest) to 5 (most badass) at their guessed fighting abilities.

The giants got a 1/2 a fist and the comment was:  Barry Bonds is only slightly tougher than the detergent he uses to wash his skirt.

Don't know why but that line stuck with me forever and still cracks me up to this day.

Man, Biggio got hit by a borderline strike, putting his elbow right into the pitch.   The catcher actually was planning on framing the pitch for a strike call.  Not sure Bidge had any other intention but getting hit on that pitch.  Biggio needs to do that a little more to catch Hughie Jennings.

The players were OK with Jimy.

The players despised Terry.

Collins was completely disconnected from reality, and wound tighter than a spring. Williams was only mildly disconnected from reality.

Exactly. TC was simply awful all around. Jimy, while being a bit peculiar, was a great player's coach, and great teacher of baseball.

maybe so on all those positives, I've heard that over and over, but his rainman act didn't play well with me at all (not that he needed to play well with me, but I digress).

Would this be the same Scott who openly discussed displaying his firearm at a gas station to discourage uninvited conversation? Yeah, if that choir boy is talking about mixing it up a little, color me shocked.

Caught that thread - I never post in the religious discussions when they break out. I was responding to your post about "Even good little Christian boy Scott". I took that to mean that you thought Scott was a good and decent person who would generally be above such things. I think was the word "good" that fooled me into thinking you had measured his goodness.
