scoring question
« on: May 30, 2007, 09:02:33 am »
Why does Lidge get the blown save on the sac fly last night instead of White?  Those weren't his runners.  Lidge did a good job in a tough situation.

His role is to "save" the guy to whom the runners belong.  If there had been another inherited runner score, White would have gotten the loss, but Lidge would still be the one who failed to save the win.

Gotcha, thanks.  Yet another reason why Saves are a dubious "stat".

Scoring question:

What is it, and how can the Astros do it?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Holds and blown saves also are BS stats.
