Looks good in the outfield, too.  The Cards must be knocking themselves out trying to figure out how to get Edmonds on the DL or otherwise out of the picture.

My wife and I were about to start heckling him, but then he dropped the hammer.  Oops.

Yes.  Top of the 6th Rick Stavinoha hit a grand slam after Ankiel was walked.

Rick or Nick?  There was a Houston kid named Nick Stavinoah that played at San Jac and LSU.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Sorry, you are correct, Nick. (dadgum typos)

I want to see him do it at the ML level. Hopefully, for his own good (I could not care less about any benefit for the Cardinals), he wont freak out. But yeah, he seems to be able to handle hitting at the AAA level.

Are we discussing the same Rick Ankiel that has so far handled AAA pitching to the tune of .240/.310/.325 so far this year?

Not sure where you're getting your stats, but I show him at .275/.313/.570, with 11 HR in 41 games.

I'll put it this way:

He could start in RF for this team, right now.

He could probably start in RF for the Jakes right now, too.
Encarnacion = .227 / .239 / .250.
Ludwick = .217 / .250 / .261

The Astros are in a tailspin, yet the Jakes can't stay ahead of us in the standings.  What a fucked up season so far!!!

We've lost what, two games?, in the standings during an 8-game losing streak.

The Central is every bit the shitfest the national media was predicting.

I wonder what their timetable is for promoting him?

He's out of options, so they likely want to be absolutely sure he's ready before they promote.

I'm perfectly fine with him making it back to the majors as a hitter, as long as it does not help the Cards turn their season around.
