I couldn't agree more. I salute every member of the armed service that I see. Freedom isn't free.

Thank you to all who have served in the past or present.  Regardless of whether you served during wartime or not.  Regardless of whether the war was "popular" or not.  Your service has given me the freedoms that I so often take for granted.  Today is a good day to remember that baseball is just a game.  Winning streaks and losing streaks.  Whatever.  It's just a game.  Those who have served in our armed forces (and their families) have made tremendous sacrafices for things that are truly important.  Thanks again to all who have served.

Today I give thanks to all who have served, but my thoughts will be  with those in Iraq who are friends of my youngest daughter, the ones who used to come over to hang out with her or the ones you would see and in town theywould always wave and say hello mamm . They seem so young to be putting their lives out there every day. I pray for them and everyone in the line of danger in the name of the United States.

I salute with great pride on this holiday the veterans who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

My father in law passed away recently; he joined the navy in 1940 and was on the Detroit when it was hit at Pearl Harbor, and was sunk on the destroyer Pringle at Okinawa, where he was in the water for 3 days before being pulled out. Smoking finally did him in, 30 years after he quit.

We went by the cemetery yesterday, it was nice to see that the Boy Scouts and American Legion had been out there placing flags at the veteran's graves.

My utmost thanks to all who served.

One thing everyone can agree on, whether they agree with whatever war is going on at the time, is that all those in the military are brave souls who deserve our respect and gratitude.  Thanks to all those who serve or have served.

I wish your statement were accurate, but sadly, it is not.

It's not even a lack of support, so much as it is sometimes outright ill will toward those in uniform.

Anyway... I don't want to dwell on the minority.

My nephew flew back from Germany for a leave about a month ago, traveling in uniform. People bought him so many drinks on the way back he was totally blotto when we picked him up at the airport.

My guess is yes...

I have cousins and friends in the Army, Marines, and AF... so I guess it doesn't even cross my mind that not everyone supports the troops, which is ridiculous to me.  My cousin did a year in Iraq, and he said its unbelievable how loud it can be at night when trying to sleep.. hearing anything from yelling to random explosions.  I will always respect anyone who literally puts their life on the line, because I can't imagine how hard it would be to go through that.  I really can't.

when you have a 22 year old kid, who's already done a year in Iraq, and is headed to Afghanistan when the leave is over, traveling by himself, I don't think the 'allowed' figures into it much.

Good point and for the record, I have no problem with it, just wondering.

Oh they're out there, and it is sickening.  But I believe they are rare.

What is less rare, regrettably, is when disagreement with the President gets conflated with not supporting the troops.  This is BS political hackery, and is sickening too.
