Well, if anyone can orchestrate a 1-0 victory, its Roy.
Today seems like a good day to burn a bridge or two

He'll have to get that run in himself.

Everyone is this lineup has hit over .300 against Liván in their career, except AE.

That's just unacceptable. Let's trade him for a spoon of peanut butter and play Berkman SS!

The Diamondbacks announcers are telling me that Ensberg would play more often if he just bunted more.

Yes. Lance hit a shot into right center and Quentin took a peak at Lance, letting the ball roll between his legs a few feet. Good heads up running by Lance to get to third.

You're not missing much... Roy just Roy inning-ed in the 5th. Walked Jackson after having him down 0-2, giving up a homer to a guy hitting under .220.

Top of the 7th, Pence doubled. Whoever hits behind him flew out to deep RC advancing Pence to 3rd. Ausmus bounced out to SS, Pence scores. 2-3 Diamondbacks.

Two out.

Everett batting with the bases empty, takes a strike in the top out corner of the strikezone, then jabs the next pitch up the middle into the OF. There was a visit to the mound before Everett's AB.

Oswalt up with Everett at first and two out.

Oswalt up with two out, and Everett at first.

Broken bat bouncer to SS, Oswalt thrown out at first.

On to the bottom of the 7th, Astros down 2-3.

Pet peeve: playing God Bless America and people are holding their hands over their hearts, removing their hats. That behavior should be reserved for the National Anthem, not some sentimental broadway showtune.

Rant off.

Hernandez batting in the bottom of the 7th, facing Oswalt.

Hacks at the first pitch, fouling it off to the right.
Oswalt and Ausmus give each other the palms-up "what are you TALKING about?" sign, and converge mid-way for a short conversation.
FB up and in, fouled off to the right again. 0-2 count.
Heat in at the knees, makes Hernandez jump back and fall forward (a little jive at the plate). 1-2.
Slider away, just outside a little bit. 2-2.
Another fastball, this time away, mid-thigh. Fouled up and back. 2-2.
Fastball apparently low, corner away. 3-2.
Middle in fastball, pops into shallow center. Everett, Pence and Loretta converging. Everett baskets it and it pops out. Hernandez safe at first. E6. First error in 23 games for Everett.

Bottom 7th, Hernandez on base, no outs.

Young takes strike one, then ball one down and in. 1-1.
Ball two. 2-1.
High cheese is fouled back for a 2-2 count.
High curve up around the chin and in just makes Young lean back a bit. Full count.
Young launches one out to deep RCF (near the pool). Pence gives chace but it's just beyond him, and bounces at the base of the wall. Hernandez clogs the paths, and winds up at 3rd, holding Young to a double.

Runners at 2nd and 3rd, nobody out. Wallace goes in for a chat with Oswalt.

Oswalt's sitting at 98 pitches, facing Callaspo.

Ball one up and in (to the LHH).
Next curve is down and out. Control seems to be a little off? 2-0.
Shot up the middle. Hernandez scores, but a strong throw from Pence holds Young at 3rd.

4-2 Diamondbacks, nobody out, runners on the corners,  bottom of the 7th.

Oswalt hits the showers.

Someone else take over? I am gonna get back to studying (stupid CPA Exam).

Roy does not get a free pass in this free fall. he just drifts away during innings, often with a lead.

that is bullshit. you should put your hand over your heart any time the spirit moves you to do so.

too bad you think sentimental is negative.

I have no problem with the song (or with sentimentality -- you read that in yourself, Jim), just with folks giving it the same treatment as the National Anthem. Unless things have changed, I think at MMP they prompt folks to remove their cap for the song, as well.

MoBerg back at 3rd.  3 HRs in like 5 minutes.  I don't care what he's doing different, it seems to be working.

About.  Fucking.  Time.

JdJO winds up with a bloody nose. Not because someone socks him, but because the meeting was behind closed doors, and he was skulking a bit too close when they all barged out the room.

Yup, nice long hit by Ensberg! Hope he continues ramping it up.
