McCarthy is a relative unknown to the good guys. Loretta has a single in three trips, Twinkie 0-2 w/ a BB and a K, Lamb has a BB and a double, Bidge 0-1.

Lofton reached on an error off Lamb's glove, then tried to steal second. Bidge tagged him out and Lofton, sliding head first, did a face plant into his knee. Looks a little wobbly as he is helped off the field.

Pigpen high fly to RF, Loretta grounds up the middle, deflected by the P right to the 2B, Berkman draws a walk (McCarthy high in the zone with his FB), Lee fly to left.

Jesus, is Chuck Merryweather permanently calling Astros games now?

We've had scrub-a-dub-dub ump crews for at least the last 2 series.

Nelson Cruz slaps a low liner past Lamb into the corner, leadoff double. Kinsler sac bunt, Cruz to third. Laird (infield in) jerks one off the top of the wall (a fan reached and missed it) for an RBI double. Laird almost caught leaning off second by Woody/Loretta. Vazquez plants one in the RF stands just over the reach of Scott. 4-0 Rangers. McCarthy K's. Lofton, with the bruised grill, walks. Pitching coach Dave Wallace strolls to the mound for a chat. Lofton nearly got picked off, then swiped second on the next pitch easily. Young reaches a 2-2 count, and Lofton tries to steal third. He had a good jump, but Q guns him down. (thanks, dumbass Lofton)

Lamb with a high foul pop, Vazquez reaches over the short fence to grab it. The groundskeepers were ducking out of the way.

Q takes out the ball boy down the RF line, then reaches a full count. Fouls a couple off, then flies to right near the line.

Q has been playing good ball. Seems like he hits it hard quite often.

4-1 Texas

Apparently the book on Berkman is everything up. Lance isn't doing anything with high pitches so far this year.

he has pitched well enough to win several. not today.

i do not rememer seeing your prediction.

I agree. I was hoping that he was going to win more than 2. He deserves a few more wins. Yes, some techno guy on the site can probably find my prediction in a flash.

Albers was a loss in my book before the game even started. He is completely jacked right now.

Woody and Wandy = toss ups, so winning 2 out of 3 this series was a pipe dream, the way I saw it.

I switched to Red Wings vs. Ducks after the homer to make it 6-1.

so that's the rotation right now:  oswalt, sampson, two toss ups, and an automatic loss.  it's pretty great that this team is at .500 right now, especially considering berkman's struggles.

I have a question about how long Pence is currently tied to the Astros.  On Rotoworld, it says he makes near the mlb minimum from '07-'09 and is arbitration eligible '10-'12.  Does that mean we have until 2012 to offer him a multi-year contract or can he leave in 2010?

agreed. i wonder when/if Berkman comes out of it. as Mark said earlier, they are pounding him with high FBs.

we need Jennings back strong. probably need someone else, too, but if Wandy keeps improving....

who is winning the hockey game?

Wandy's been looking okay, especially for a no. 5. Something's working with him.

Bad pitching is one thing, but the offense didn't exactly come out with guns blazing today either.

Moehler coming in to "get some work," as Bill Brown says, in the 8th inning of a blowout game where the starter was knocked out with one out in the 5th.

I still don't get the purpose of Moehler on this team.

write Garner a letter. he likes 12 pitchers.

he is a middle inning and spot starter pitcher. he could be a 5th starter.

Albers, Wandy, Woody are all shaky. Jennings' health is an issue. Moehler is good insurance for any of them. there is nothing in RR.

Agree. He's playing insurance right now, but that's okay. I personally prefer 11 pitchers or 2 bullpen lefties on a 12 man staff. Coach, how's the lefty reliever Randolph looking?

he got blasted on the road this week. that was his first not dominating inning.

Reinke has had some good outings as a starter.

Barzilla, McLemore and Gothreaux also have started.

That was from Boston, I think.  I hope Clemens' arm snaps clean off his fucking body in his next minor league start.

I can quite honestly say I am not the least bit interested in seeing him as an Astro (player) again.

No thanks.
