Well, I would have said that he's trying to get a good defense out there behind Wandy, except that Loretta is at SS, which is a little confusing. But Lane in RF is probably a better defensive option than Luuuuuuke.

He better not take it that way.  PENCE!!! has been hitting much better than Iceberg.

Good guys can't capitalize on Loretta's BB. We should be able to get to Koronka. He was 3-3 with a 5.4 ERA down in AAA.

According to the announcers, we beat him last year.  So this isn't his first trip to the Show.

He bailed big time. He was facing third when he hit it. Makes me wonder what the fuck is the hitting coach doing? Lane has been pulling off for two fucking months.

Last hit was a double (RBI double, I believe) on May 8th in Cincy. No idea what it said, but I can't imagine it was correct.

I thought it said HR, but his last HR was on April 21st.

Jason's had some very nice defensive plays in his last few starts.

His bat is often not making contact with the ball on swings with 2 strikes.

last three games the offense is on hiatus: pitchers

1) Linecum (sp?)
2) Tejada
3) Koronka

c'mon, I realize I couldn't hit my way out of a paper bag but
we are striking out way too much... anyone with NL stats on team K's

Chunked off the handle into right center. Pence got a late jump, but I don't really think anybody would have caught it. It was just one of those excuse-me things.

just wait till we visit sf on monday, care to guess how many runs we're gonna score against  Lowry, Lincecum, and Zito?

Our offense is just mind boggling

the leadoff man gets on base less than 30% of the time, the #3 hitter hasn't come to life yet, and the team can't find a consistent #5 hitter.  its quite understandable that the team's offense has been bad.

Ok, that wasn't exactly in the script, but I"ll take it.

Lane's expression as he was looking at Manso was "you're kidding, right?".

last three games the offense is on hiatus: pitchers

1) Linecum (sp?)
2) Tejada
3) Koronka

c'mon, I realize I couldn't hit my way out of a paper bag but
we are striking out way too much... anyone with NL stats on team K's

Came into play tonight with the 10th most at 273. Cardinals had the fewest at 200, Marlins have the most at 352. Pretty much splitting the difference.

OK, here's the new lineup. Ensberg leads off. He walks. Lane comes up second. He bunts for a hit. Lance comes up third. He strikes out. Lee is next. He doubles Ensberg home. Pence is 5th. He singles to center scoring Lane and Lee. Biggio sixth. He homers to the Crawford Boxes. 7th, 8th and 9th, who the hell cares?

Let's see if Feldman knows how to throw a slider away and in the dirt.

Edit: Apparently not.

Man, Brad seems so much more comfortable not having to worry about nailing down a game.  Unfortunately I don't think the Astros like having a $5 million setup man and middle reliever.

Why not, lots of teams have $4-6 mil guys like that. Plus, the Astros currently have a $400,000 (or whatever) closer in Wheels.

Dan Wheeler 2007 salary - $2,100,000

I've got no problem if the Astros pay Lidge $6 million.  I just would like more production out of him than a 7th inning setup guy.

Sorry to do this after-the-fact but I got to go to the game tonight (holy crap, what a beautiful night in Houston--too bad we can't bottle one of these and save it for mid-August) and haven't seen any replays.  When I am fortunate enough to attend I always make a mental note of things to check in the GZ when I get home.  Almost always my questions are already answered, but it seems like there were not many folks around tonight so the discussion was kind of limited.

That being said, when seen live it sure looked like Lamb was out by a good 5 feet at 3rd on that play in the 6th.  It seems like the GZ-dwellers saw it the same way.  What the hell happened?

And soon after on the ball Berkman hit to right that was ruled no catch, was it the right call?  I didn't really get a good look at it.

Just wonderin'.

He was out.  Ump just blew the call.

Berkman call was right - the ball bounced and Sammy trapped it.  He just stood up and for a second pretended he'd caught the ball before he threw it into the infield.

Much obliged.  Our seats are on the 3B side so I wouldn't have been surprised either way with respect to Sosa's play.  It's just nice to get some feedback about what actually happened.
