I wasn't meaning that Towles was filling his spot on the roster but that he is taking his spot on the field. J. R. wouldn't have been brought up if Lou was playing. He is much more of a prospect than Mackor and I feel he will get the majority of the playing time at catcher. That is what I meant by Lou's suspension playing into it.
Sorry I misunderstood. I agree that Mackor is pretty close to the end of his shelf life ... sort of a replacement for Danny Fatheree. Towles was not exactly tearing up Salem, though, and I wonder if he really "needs" to be facing a higher level pitching. Perhaps those with more dugout experience can enlighten me on whether
catching a higher level pitcher is an important part of the developmental process?
In any case, Lopez by himself at Salem does not sound like a solution to anything. Henriquez & Sapp have been sharing time at Lexington, and both seem to need action at that level. That's why I speculated that James Goethals (another Mackor in the making?) might get the call there.
