I assume the HD games are on FoxHD, the channel I have yet to see broadcast anything, in my three months as an HDTV owner?

If you mean FOX Sports HD (Austin 1639), then yes, those games will be on that channel.  The games on FOX will obviously be on regular FOX HD (Austin 1501).

What is this HD of which you speak?  Is he back?

I put together a schedule that includes the TV broadcast information of all the Astros' opponents as well.  It's useful for those (like me) outside the Astros' territory to know in advance whether a game will be on Extra Innings and which broadcast you will get.  If anyone would like a copy, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you.

According to your schedule, the Astros play on FSN HD today.  But the game does not appear to be on the regular FSN channel.  For those of us without HD, we get beach volleyball instead.  Yeah!

Sorry to be so late to the party here, but if you have DirecTV with MLBEI and the HD DirecTV package, do you get the Astros HD games listed above or some or none?

I have DirecTV with the HD package, but no MLBEI. So far, all I've gotten is a notice on one of the HD sports channels saying that Stros/Cards was upcoming, which switched today to Red Sox/Somebody upcoming, which switched at game time to a blackout screen. That was nice. Got the standard def feed, but not HD. I'm contacting them tomorrow to see what's what.

The game was shown in Austin on 77.  DVR guide said Rangers and whoever, but it was the Astros and Cards.

I called TW and they said it might be a problem with my cable box.  Whatever, as long as I get to see them in HD at some point.

Strange...1639 said the ever present "off air" but I always check it anyway, and for some reason it had the Padres game on??? Go figure.

Dang it Waldo, I was going for most replies and now becuase of this my thread will stall out at number four.  Guess I know how Sosa feels.  What else is there to live for.

Paraphrasing the response, I was told that the FSN HD feeds are like the local channels - a single "spot beam" of signal aimed at a metro area. Austin, I was told, does not yet have an HD spot beam for FSSW. Well, who in Texas does, I asked, since there are a number of FSSW markets in the state. Dallas and Houston only, I'm told. Do they each have a separate spot beam? No, they share one big one. Well what shape is the beam, and how does it manage to miss Austin? It's not quite that simple. Oh, I see.

And then last night, there was the HD on channel 95. So, I have no idea what the hell that's all about.

It's a sensitive signal that gets distorted by the heat haze from the simultaneous firing of thousands of bongs.

Combine that with the giant cloud of smug in residence over Travis County and it's a wonder they can get any tv signals at all.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

One would think that Houston's fat population would have an absorbent effect on radio waves.

Lies. DTV Spot Beam Map 4S

Houston, DFW, SA are all different spot beams. Looks like Austin is grouped in with DFW.
