Still thinking of ways to make baseball more fan friendly
« on: May 03, 2007, 12:12:52 pm »
I was watching the NFL draft over the weekend on ESPN and the NFL Network. Later that night, I flipped over my DirecTV Extra Innings Package to find the Astros game. There was a teaser on Channel 733 (I think) that informed me how I could subscribe to the Baseball Channel. I pay $40 a month for baseball and I have to pay an extra $10 for one channel? I don't even have the NFL package and I get the NFL Channel for free!

I think it's the subtle things like that driving fans to the more fan friendly sports like football, basketball and even NASCAR.

Ideas? Thoughts?

A straight up Bud Selig for David Stern trade would help.

If you are getting Comcast, they are raising the prices of everyone's cable (whether they want it or not) to get the NFL network.   They are choosing not do that for the baseball network.   Obviously, taking money from people who don't watch baseball would be good for baseball fans, but I think as a consumer I prefer having things like that optional.

baseball already is more fan friendly than most of the other sports.  cheapest tickets.  best atmosphere (when they aren't over-doing it.  heaven forbid we don't have something going on at all times.)

You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?

Anyone checked out the prices for St. Louis lately?  Crazy.

I would pay $13 for the entire city.  $7 without the Arch.

Love this quote: "Premium pricing applies to Opening Night, all Saturday games, all Cubs games, and final game. "

Why in God's name would anyone pay more for a cubbies game?

Gouging the drunken masses that either drive from Shitcago or happen to be Scrubby fans.

Personally, its a win/win for us. BFiB get gouged, Cubs get gouged... Only thing that could make it better would be if 1 out of every 5 fans was shot in the face at the gate.
