Anyone for Bonus GZ Coverage? 3rds at Lasts

Top 1:  Lilly gives up hits to Duncan and Pooholes, but avoids damage by getting Rolen to GIDP.

Neither.  Just enjoy the fact that one set of egotistical fans is going to be really, really pissed off.

I root for the scrubs to win 2 out of 3.  They're up 1-0 after an inning.

Scrubs treat Looper to string of hit singles longer than the Beatles.  Then one goes to an infielder and a potential big inning ends up in a GIDP, 1 left, 1 in.  Perfectly Cub.

1-2-3 inning for Lilly in the 2nd... PK wilson actually made contact, but it was just a lineout.

Lilly freezes a couple of 3rds.  Amazingly, Wilson wasn't one of 'em - he lined out.

I just hate to see Cubfan feel good about anything.

Don't worry, it usually doesn't last long (see inning, first).

Lilly breezes through the meats in the 3rds order with a pick 'n' mix of flyouts, strike outs and ground outs.

Cubs turn a lead-off hit into nada.  Mid-season form.

Lilly works around a Wilson walk (you're reading it right) to lead off the inning.  No score but it turned to order over back to the top for the next inning.

Lilly rolling.  He 1, 2, 3's the top of the Jakes' order, and punctuated it with a ponche of Pooholes (say that three times really fast).

It's speeding along now.  Looper drops 'em in order without any good contact being made.

Lilly K'd Rolen (.200), then lost Edmonds (.186) to a walk.  Then Agent Wilson connected and the Cubs lead evaporated just as the shutters are coming down on the beer vendors.  Oh lordy!

Bot 7:  Cubs got two on, then Cubbed up with a batter's interference and 2 Ks.  No score.

Top 8:  Relief on for Lilly, worked around a Ickstein double with an IBB to Pooholes.  No score.

Flyout, lineout, flyout.  How does anyone ever watch the Cubs with anything other than disgust in their hearts?

Edmonds leads off with a triple, almost guaranteeing an insurance run here.  But his teammates leave him there, which makes sense as why would you want that arrogant prick back in the dugout an earlier than he had to be.

The old Cub adage is born out again:  at Wriggly, you're certain to see the bottom of the 9th.

Alright, Iggy's looking wobbly (odd, considering those things on the side of his head should act like stabilisers) and Yahoo's game gizmo has locked up.  2 on, 1 out.  WTF is happening?

Hard to blog this last inning.  After ErrorMiss flied out, DeRosa walked and was replaced by Rapid Roger Cedeno (completing the brace of Astro cast-off appearances with DeeDub's PHK earlier).  Rog managed to be out at 2nd when Jacques Jones walked.  Only the Cubs can pull off this play.  A pop out later, and the fat drunks were crying.

I'm gobsmacked at the level of incompetence of the Cubs.  I shouldn't be, but I am.

Murton popped to shallow left. Game over.

Any idea how the Cubs lose a baserunner on a walk?

I had the Cubs audio feed on in the background... from what I could piece together the runner on first was going with the pitch (which turned out to be ball 4).  He didn't pick up the ball 4 call, went in head-first, overslid 2nd base, and was tagged out by Eckstien.

Pretty fucked up, even by Cub standards.
