Dick Justice, a squirrel, and a blind nut.
« on: April 19, 2007, 09:48:28 am »
Or something like that.

He actually had an insightful response to a comment amidst all the sticking-fingers-in-ears-and-yelling that normally goes on over there.

http://blogs.chron.com/sportsjustice/archives/2007/04/yes_jason_lane_1.html

Comment by Steven Hunter: "I really hope that Purpura is at least looking into dealing Lidge and a prospect to the Phillies for Myers.... It may be something that wouldn't work out, but I'd say it's at least worth 72 hours of his time to look into it."

Response: "I can promise you that Brett Myers will never ever ever ever pitch for the Houston Astros.--Richard"

Wow, Richard. You actually have been watching.

"Holy shit, Mozart. Get me off this fucking thing."

"Stephen Hunter" is an idiot.  Anyone who knows a) Myers' history, and b) The personal standards Drayton has set for the organization, would never even have such a trade proposition cross their mind.  Don't give Dicko too much credit for calling him out on that one.

Ironically...wasn't Myers (along with Floyd) the pitcher that the Astros asked for first in the Wagner deal, only to get shot down in both cases, eventually settling on Buchholz.

No.  They asked for Cole Hamels.  They never asked for Myers.

I can't say that I've ever longed for Myers in an Astros uni, but why would he "never, ever, ever, ever pitch for the Houston Astros"? I guess I'm unfamilar with (a).

Again, it's not like I particularly care for him. That just seemed like a pretty emphatic statement potentially with an unstated, accompanying story that I'm unfamiliar with.

Later in the comments there is a reference to domestic abuse issues, but I don't know what he was referencing.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

Allrighty then. that would do it.

Myers also has a huge reputation as a scrapper.  He has had bar brawls in the minor leagues before.   He was also involved in purposely hitting a player for the Yankees minor league team when he was in Scanton.  The player charged the mound to get to him and Myers pretty much obliged because that is what he wanted to do.... have a donnybrook fight with anyone who would dare take him on.  He then bragged about it afterwards to the media.

He's is Houston Astros/Drayton McLane player profile challenged.
