John Thompson strikes out Pence to start to 2nd.

2-1 Bluebirds.

Vernon Wells homered in the 1st.

Ashby, laying on the praise, say's Pence leading all Major Leagers in AVG so far this spring.

Munson grounds out.

Bruntlett does the same.

Ash states he interviewed Gar before the game and speculated that Pence has an outside shot at the team but way outside and that his performance so far is forcing him to consider it.

Wandy pitching for the Astros.

Wells homer in the first was a two run job.

Zuan K's looking for the second out of the inning.

First pitch to the next batter is lined to Luke Scott who makes a fantastic diving catch to end the inning.

Palmiero walks to lead off the 3rd.

*Lamb, Luke and Ensberg all had hits in the first.

Burke, working the count,  Palmeiro is thrown out trying to steal second.

Burke then flies out.

Lamb goes full count, taps pitch back to the mound and is thrown out at first for third out.

BTW.  It's a beatiful day.

Rolls Royce Clayton (2 for 10)leads off the inning for the BJ's.  Wandy, still on the hill, K's him quickly.

Reed Johnson up next,  suffering from a cortizone injected back, lines down the left field line for a one out double.

Big, bad, Lyle Overbay now steps into the batters box.  Wandy, preoccupied with Johnson on second, wirls around and takes a stab at him but gets nowhere.  Curveball grounded to Burke, throw out at first while Johnson advances to third.

Wells next.  Reed takes a huge lead at 3rd, states Ash.  The Big Hurt on deck.  Wells walks, DAMMIT!

Hurt, with ducks on the pond, goes full count and takes a questionable ball four.

Glaus comes to bat with the bases juiced.  K'd to end the first.  Pitching coach, Dave Wallace, comes out for a chit-chat with Wandy.  Ash and Wallace were battery mates back in the day.  Glaus works a full count and .....Rios on deck...two pitches fouled back....sharp grounder to Burke at second, makes a nice play to get us out of the inning!!!

I will take over, but give me a minute to get my feet settled (and figure out where we are)

Scott makes some diving catch as I start listening.  Getting lots of praise from Do-Ray

Joining in progress, 1 out 1 run (Rios HR) in so far.  Missed part of the first AB I will talk about.

Aaron Hill: ???-f-f(softly)-ball to fence (pence gives chace) for a double.

Gutierrez pitching

???: slaped hard past 1st, runners at the corners.
Scott was able to get there quick enough to hold the runner
Reed Johnson batting: b-b(in)-pop-up, Munson gives way to Lamb who makes the play, 2 out
Overbay batting: b(down)-f(hard down 1B line)-throw to 1B-ss(good breaking pitch)-Hard high and Deep to RF, 3-Run HR!
They are talking about how this ball left the park, and might have hit some car out in the parking lot.
Wells: b(inside)-b(low)-b(up and in)-high pop-up, Munson (who is catching) was able to have room to end the inning.

But the Damage was done, 4 more runs on 2 HRs for the BJs.

Pence nearly hits a HR on the first pitch, off the top of the wall for a Double.

Victor Zambrano pitching (his 2nd inning).

Munson: Pops up foul(out of play)-Talking about Hunter looking to drive the first pitch he can, so not working the count, but teeing off on ST pitchers-ball(up and outside)-cracked bat roller to 2B- Pence advances to 3B. 1 Out

Bruntlett: soft flare to 1B, 2 out, CRAP come on!!! got to drive in the runner from 3B with less than 2!

Palmeiro: sc(at the knees)-ball(in)-ball(outside and low)-ball(low and inside, just missing)-ball(down) Walk

Men 1st and 3rd, 2 out
Burke: Toss to 1B, OP back in easily-sc(above knees inside corner)-ball(way in)-ball(curve in the dirt)-ball(fastball, up and in)-ball(in) ANOTHER Walk

Bases juiced with 2 outs
Lamb: Come on Lamb, Keep it going! Ball(outside)-sc(just caught the outside corner)-ball(outside)-rolls one to 2B!

CRAP! Lead off double and they don't score a F@#$ thing!

Munson now 1B
Klaussen at 2B
Qunitero catching

Wheeler pitching

Big Hurt: f(back over Do-Ray heads)-ss(waves and missed)-talking about people getting close to 500HRs-basehit to CF

Griffin to pinch run
Glaus: (personal note, I HATE the station ID for monsters of the Midday) b-sc(inside corner)-flip to 1B, back in easily-b(slider down and away)-f(back over Do-Ray heads)-Quintero out to talk to Wheeler (crossed up?)-smash back up Klaussen makes nice pick to start the DP, 4-6-3!!!!

Cosby: b(breaker in the dirt)-nubber to 3B, Ensberg throws to 1B to end the inning.

BJs making changes I don't give a rats a#$ about.

Bo Kemp pitching for the BJs.  They know as much as I do about him (reaching for the media guide they are)

Ensberg: ball(up and outside)-ball(up and in)-ball(high)-sc(Mo was walking to 1B)-ball(WAY inside and high) Walk, 2nd straight inning with leadoff guy on, lets see if they screw this up too!

Ransom running for Ensberg
Scott: sc(inside at the knees)-sc(big breaker that drops in)-ball(up and outside)-ball(up and outside)-f(back and out of play, in 3B stands)-ball(WAY up and outside)-ball(Ransom was running), WALK, 2 straight to lead off the inning!

Jimerson running for Scott
Lane: grounder to SS, Clayton bobbles it and only gets out at 2B (just barely beating Jimerson).  In regular season form, eh Lane?

Anderson running for Lane
Pence (aka superman): ball(pence had to duck to avoid ball)-sc(high and inside)-talking about Pence choking the bat-s-ball(low)-ball(fastball tailing away)-base hit to LF, Anderson was moving, makes it to 3B.  FINALLY scoring a leadoff baserunner!

Men on the Corners with 1 out.
Munson: sc(fastball on outside corner)-ripped to RF, for a single, Pence holds at 2B, Anderson scores!

Men on 1st and 2nd, 1 out.
Bruntlett: Do-Ray talking about driving hell in FLA(tolls and brushfires), ball(down)-foul(out of play)-man must be tough, Do-Ray keep going on about wanting ice cream and where they might get it-throw to 1B-ball(almost hit Bruntlett)-ball(high outside)-Kemp fighting himself-foul(high pitch)-foul(back, runners were going)-f(down RF line, just out of reach by RF)-ball(low) 3rd walk in inning.

Bases loaded, 1 out.  Manzella running for Bruntlett
Hidalgo: 1-19 this spring, just don't hit a DP. ball(way high)-Kemp is all over the place-chopper down 3B line, fair, 2 runs in, Manzella to 3B.

Men on corners, 1 out.
Pitching change (2nd visit)
Klaussen or Quintero due up (both in on deck circle)
Jason Fraizer comming in for BJs

going to continue in next post.

Fraizer pitching
I was wrong, Hidalgo hit a double, men on 2nd and 3B, 1 out.

Quintero: foul(down RF line, out of play)-ball(just off the outside corner)-f(slider away the Q just got a piece of)-ball(just missed the corner)-ball-hit in the air to RF, Sac Fly, Hidalgo moves to 3B.  Wind helped push it our far enough for them to move up on.

Tie game, man on 3B, 2 outs.
Klaussen: sc(slider on outside corner)-ball(down)-ss-ball(down and outside, breaker)-sc(fastball on the outside corner).

At least they tied the game!  But it was the Scrubs doing the damage... well other then the walks by regulars.

Anderson playing CF
Jimerson playing RF
Manzella playing SS
Ransom playing 3B
Sauerbeck pitching
Quintero catching
Pence and Munson only starters left (and Munsom move from C to 1B)

Zaun: ball(up and outside)-personal note, I always liked Zaun, both as a player and a person- smash up the middle, for a single. Isn't Sauerbeck the scrub who was tatooed last time he pitched?

McDonald: ball(up and outside)-grounder to Klaussen, for another DP, Really singing his praises on how quickly they turned it, cause it was not tailor made.

Clayton: ball(outside)-grounder to pitcher, quick play.

side retired, nice quick inning.

More BJ changes, which I don't care about

Ransom: foul(straight back)-ball(in the dirt)-foul(way of of play)-foul(straight back again)-lifted to CF, good contact, but easy out.

Jimerson: Taking bets, K or no K.  K the heavy favorite: s-sc-ball(low and inside)-ss(lunging)  Favorites win!

Anderson: sc-ball(outside)-ss(fastball he was late on)-ball(fastball inside)-ss, Ked to end the inning.  Hard to steal when you can't make contact or get on 1B.

Rick White pitching (can he continue to earn that bullpen spot?)

Top of the order scrubs for the BJs comming up.

Parker(who?): ball(fastball, low)-sc(fastball)-lined over 2B for a single

reminder that KTRH has the game tomorrow
????(blowing my nose seemed more important than learning his name): Jimerson makes a great lunging catch in RF. tries to catch Parker back at 1B, but gets back easily.

Duncan: foul-ball(high)-throw to 1B-Luke Scott going to be the guest, seems like Brett ran down during the top of the 7th-ball-ss-sc, Duncan not totally in agreement, but who ever got call out and agreed?

2 out man on 1st
Griffin: ss-sc(curveball drops in there)-ball,snap throw to 1B, catches Parker, for the 3rd out!

side retired.

Scott Downs in for BJs, again running to Media Guide.

CRAP I could do what they are at this point... but then it is better than Milo.

More changes for the BJs I don't care about.

Pence (aka Superman): Bouncer over the mound for a single up the middle.  He is 3-4 on the day and brings his average down.  What Dave Raymond is calling a ho-hum day from him.

Munson: ball(outside)-sc(outside corner)-sc(right in there)-ss. Ked

1 out, Man on 1B
Manzella: throw to 1B,pence back easily-sc(right down middle)-snap throw to 1B, pence back in-ball(outside)-foul(tip, catcher couldn't hold it)-hammers one to CF, off the wall, Pence scores just ahead of the throw. RBI DOUBLE!!!

More praise for Pence scoring from 1B on the double
1 out, man on 2B
Santangelo: ss-ball(outside)-goundball cut off by 3B, 2 outs

2 outs, man on 2B
Quintero: ss-ss(ball skipped infront of the plate)-ball(breaker in dirt)-foul(tipped, caught, but 1B umpire says it hit the dirt)-ball-Dave loses the count, thought it was full(hey here is a thought, keep track)-foul-bouncer to 3B, easy play, for the final out.

Do-Ray says Wandy's line may not look that good, but they saw lots of good things about his outing.

The Animal needs to learn that you can be funny with out stupid voices....
McLemore pitching

Griffin: sc-b-f-ball(high)-high pop-up down LF line, just of out superman's reach... why didn't he just fly?-high fly to LCF, Pence catches this one, and had to cover some ground to get there, but not the best route... but he got it.

Haddock: ball(high fastball)-ball(inside)-lined to LF, Pence reacts quickly and lunges in to grab it off the turf, for the out.

Crosby: s-f-ball-high pop up down 1B line, Klaussen makes the play in foul ground.

Side retired
Leiber going to pitch for Phili tomorrow.

New pitcher #82 for BJs.  No idea who he is. (Kyle Yates)
BTW, I like Pence, but making fun because so many Media idiots who have anoited him.
Seems the PA booth wants Pence for the BJs.

Klaussen: Ball-ball(inside)-Now Do-Ray can't remember Yates first name)-sc-Yates from Kerville, TX-grounder to SS, throw to 1B for 1st out.

Ransom: ball(up and in)-seems Yates has funky delivery-ball(outside)-bouncer down 3B line, foul-ss(swing and a miss)-ball(breaker up and in)-grounder to 3B, normal play, 2 outs

Jimerson: 2nd chance to make the bet, K or no K; K still heavy favorite- ss(swing and a miss)-foul(down the 3B side, at least he made contact)-ball(up and in, almost hit him)-ball(offspeed high)-foul(3rd base side)-bouncer back of 2nd, beats it out for a infield single.  Favorites lose!

1 on, 2 outs
Anderson: ss-Jimerson draws freeze from pitcher-ball(little pitchout)-throw to 1B-sc(stolen based for Jimerson)-ball(Anderson spins away)-ball(breaker in)-ball(inside and low)

Pence (aka Superman): With a chance to raise his avergae afterall: sc(outside corner, slider)-ss(Pence was pulling off on the pitch, looked bad)-foul(tip, looked timid with breaker)-pop up foul-sharp grounder to SS, through his legs, runs scores.  probably going to be an error.

2nd time this spring Pence made an out, but reached base, Anderson made it to 3B.

Munson: sc(outside corner)-ball(backdoor breaker that misses)-foul(high to the left side, hit the awning)-ball(outside)-grounder by 1B, Pence was moving, RBI Single, Pence to 3B.  Pence might have been able to score, but for some unknown reason with 2 outs, he stopped at 2B for a sec.

New pitcher comming in, #73 comming in.  Danny Core comming in.  Do-Ray couldn't hear it clearly either. (since corrected)

Manzella due up, going to continue in next post.

Superman has the amazing ability to hit uncatchable shots directly to SS (not taught at AAA) and should be scored accordingly.  He is also impervious to hot-footing, is allowed to slide into first and can  be called upon as an emergency catcher.

Paul Estrada in to close out the game

Thigpen: s-f(ball hit him after it hit bat)-high ball that Manzella loses in the sun and results in a 2-base error.

McDonald: f-high to CF, Anderson makes the catch, comming in.  Klaussen could have almost caught it.

Smith: ball(high and away)-ball(outside)-sc-come-backer to pitcher, dug-out by Munson for first out.  Almost cost him the out, but trying to look at the guy on 2nd, when you have a 3 run lead.

barker(think I was calling him Parker earlier): Ball-liner to SS, gets through for a basehit, for RBI single.

Phillips: sc(outside corner)-ss-more ice cream talk-ball(fastball, snap throw to 1B, almost caught Barker, Munson barely made it there too)-ball(bounces in front of plate,Quintero makes good stop)-ball(breaker that just misses)-sc(runner was going). Ked to end the game!

Nieve going to start for Astros tomorrow.
