Quote:Quote:Nobody who made $2M last year needs alimony. I don't understand why alimony isn't subject to some sort of needs-testing. I started with the "alimony" thing, but perhaps that's the wrong word. I believe Texas is quite an advantageous State in which to get divorced, because the law simply requires a division of the assets gained whilst married (plus child support if applicable). For K-Fed or Phillippe, they should get their half of their wives' major moolah (perhaps not so much for Fed because she mostly disappeared once she hooked up with him).
Quote: Britney Spears told husband of two years Kevin Federline that she was divorcing him via a text message while he was recording a TV interview... The wannabe rapper, 27, was filming a segment for MuchMusic in Canada at the time. He interrupted the interview and stormed off, returning 30 minutes later visibly upset.

There's no alimony in Texas. And maintenance is very limited and tough to get.

And if I'm not mistaken either spouse may be required to pay.

One of the downsides of reading multiple news sources:"She declared in court papers that she and Federline have no community assets, which indicates they had a prenuptial agreement and don't want to disclose their divorce settlement to the court, said Leon Bennett, a Los Angeles divorce attorney who does not represent either party." web page
Quote:I heard somewhere it was an "iron-clad" pre-nup, which for some reason at the time brought to mind a large Craftsman bench vise, with Federline's balls in it.

Quote:Miles Massey: All right, so much for the ice-breakers. What are you after, Freddy? [takes a drink of water] Freddy Bender: My client is prepared to settle for 50 percent of the marital assets. [Miles spits out some water] Miles Massey: Why only 50, Freddy? Why not a hundred? While we're dreaming, why not 150? Are you familiar with "Kershner"? Freddy Bender: "Kershner" does not apply. Miles Massey: Bring this to trial, we'll see if "Kershner" applies. Rex: What's "Kershner"? Miles Massey: Please, let me handle this. Freddy Bender: "Kershner" was in Kentucky. Miles Massey: "Kershner" was in Kentucky? Freddy Bender: "Kershner" was in Kentucky. Miles Massey: All right, Freddy, forget "Kershner". What's your bottom line? Freddy Bender: Primary residence, 30 percent of remaining assets. Miles Massey: What, are you nuts? Have you forgotten "Kershner"?
