Cardinals win the central if:

Astros win central if:

HOU STL CIN

Also, historically speaking, if the Cardinals did end up losing the division, it would technically be the biggest choke job in baseball history, no? 8.5 back with 13 to play whereas the '64 Phillies were 6.5 up with 13 to play?

The Astros were in 3rd place at the time, so that is one reason the websites keep saying "7 game lead".

But moreover, the Cardinals are still in the driver's seat.  I would love to have a 1.5 game lead at this point.

Correct.  Even if they suffer another reversal tonight, they'll still be a 1/2 game in front with the Brewers coming to town for 4.  And then they have the make-up game up their sleeve.
