Mets 4, Astros 2

For the second night in a row sloppy defense lead to an Astros loss.   In the 4th, with runners 1st and 3rd, one out, Jason Hirsh got David Wright to roll a grounder right to Craig Biggio to set up a tailor made double play.  Biggio let the ball slip right between his legs.  The run scored from 3rd, the runner on 1st advanced to 3rd and later scored on a sac fly.  From a potential inning ending dp to a 2-0 score.

Meanwhile, the Astros offense was feeble against John Maine.  He held the Astros hitless until the 5th when Berkman put a run on the board with an opposite field homerun into the Boxes.

In the 6th, Hirsh marred his effective outing with a two out error of his own.  Covering first he dropped an easy throw to put a runner on.  A single put the runner on 3rd.  Then Hirsh bounced a wild pitch to bring the score in, making it 3-1.

Lamb homered to open the 7th.  But TMiller and Qualls couldn?t hold the Mets in the 8th and another run scored.

In the 9th, with one out, Biggio doubled off Wagner, then Berkman cracked a high drive to left center.  Beltran crashed into the bullpen wall and held on to the ball.  He was helped off the field with a bruised knee.  Burke ended the game striking out looking.
