Cards don't really have a Plan B says Jeff Gordon St L. Post Dispatch, 8/23, on Isringhausen.

* He has blown nearly a quarter of his save opportunities this season, nine of 39.

* In his last five relief appearances, he lost three games and blew save opportunities in two of them.

* In his last six save opportunities with one-run leads, he failed in four of them

"Isringhausen is a tough guy. He is fiercely competitive. He won?t fall apart mentally, the way Brad Lidge did after suffering adversity."

One might infer that he is saying Brad Lidge is not a tough guy or fiercely competitive.

Apparently Brad Lidge suffered no adversity on his way to the big leagues.

Didnt read that part, that's a bonus, yet another example of Jeff Gordon as moron. [edit] It must be a comfort for those who think Lidge's problem is psychological to find agreement from a writer who barely follows the Astros.

What's going on below the photo, to cause that smug, slant-eyed smile on Mr. Gordon?

Mr. Gordon!  I must protest!  The men's room shoe buffer is not to be used in that manner!
