Yeah, whatever... the amazing thing about Tony's streak is that it occurred over about a, 37 or so games, stretch. It's easier to stay in a groove playing everyday. Several of Tony's hits were in do or die pinch hit situations. That's insane.

Right.

Willy T -- 26 games
JK -- 25 games
Tony "what do" Eusebio -- 24 games

If Tony had Kent's swing or Willy's speed, he'd have challenged DiMaggio.

ETA Tony could take that outside pitch to RF. Sweet.

I hope the string continues.  I'd rather he get a hit than go hitless.

I used to (and still do) call him Tony the Nuclear Cockroach, for his remarkable ability to stay alive (both in an at-bat, and on the team).  His physical appearance didn't hurt either.  For all I remember, I may have picked up that nickname here.

I will forever remember Tony Eusebio for two things:

1. His lobster bib of a chest protector.  On any other catcher it would probably hang well below the knees.  On Tony, it was above his belly.

2. His incredible interview one spring training with Sports 610's Rich Lord.  He had a cold that day and for some odd reason Lord wanted to interview him.  Tony at his best health is hard to understand (english or spanish), but when he has a head cold, is all stuffy... well, it was just the most amazing interview ever recorded in the history of major league baseball.

Mickey Rivers had nothing on Tough Tony.

(Oh, one last thing... Eusebio challenging Drayton McLane to a race down the first base line... real or urban legend?)

I'll never forget his stolen base in the 1999 NLDS.

Tough Tony will always be one of my favorite Astros.

Simple, he was out of position!  Akin to the Steeler's scoring the clinching TD in Super Bowl 13 without Bradshaw's even recognizing what defense the cowboys were in....dumb luck!

Walt Weiss should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell!
