God help me for what I'm about to write

Can't Errormiss opt out of his contract after this season?

Would anyone be interested in seeing him in an Astros uni?
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Are you giving up on Ensberg?

That depends on which one of his 2,000 stances and plate approaches you're talking about.

However, I think it's more relevant that Garner is getting close to giving up on him.

Aramis at what cost?...

He's making $11M this season and I assume the Cubs are scheduled to pay him more next...

Is he worth 5 years $75M?...

I picked that number 'cause that's what I heard Soriano was looking for...

4 years/$42M (2005-08), plus $11M 2009 mutual option

No, but Carlos Lee is...

I'd try to re-sign Huff and if that works, trade Ensberg.  The defense may be a slight down-grade but I'll take Huff over Ensberg, any day.  Then again, no one's knocking on my door offering a GM job...

Huff has problems going to his left.  If he trains himself to take 2 steps under control and lets Everett have everything else, the left side wont take a hit defensively. His arm at 3d is decent. I think San Diego would be a willing trading partner for Ensberg.  Aramis Ramirez doesn't play for any team I'd be a fan of. But, the Astros shouldn't let that stop them.  There's 10s of thousands of that Big Puma guy out there who will buy tickets.

That's his current contract, right?  I can't imagine he'd opt out of his current deal unless he felt like he could get a fair amount more somewhere else.
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

The thing with Huff is, he's never really gotten steady work at 3B.  From what I've seen I think he can be as good as Ensberg.  Based on that, if I imagine myself as GM, this is my late season/off-season plan:

Get Roy signed to his 5 yr extension
Sign Huff to a 3 yr deal, 7-9mil/yr.
Trade Ensberg for a young pitcher.
In the off-season, goes balls out to land Lee.  I'm talking Berkman money.  The guy flat out hits.

That alone puts Houston around 80-90mil payroll.

I've looked at the FA pitchers and none are worth what they'll get, and I mean Zito.  Mulder maybe, if he's offering a discount to anyone other than STL.  I don't see Pettitte or Clemens coming back.  I could be, and problably am, wrong.  Now back to my real job.

I like all these things.  I've seen where Mclane was ticked that Lee went to the Rangers and is itching to steal him away.  As for Oswalt and 5.  Do it, do it now.  If he is in a wheel chair for the last 2 years of the contract the first 3 years will be worth it.  Anyone who is going to be complaining about how the Astros are wasting money on a broke down pitcher in the year 2011 is going to be screaming bloody murder about why Roy isn't an Astro in 2008.  Screw them and their Big Puma jerseys.

Clemens I'm inclined to agree with, but are they that down on Pettitte?  not even a 1 or 2 year contract with an option maybe thrown in there?
Here are just a few of the key ingredients: dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas, choppers - can you see how incredible this is going to be?

It's kinda weird.  There has been no mention of a contract extension with Pettitte.  I've heard rumors (can't remember which media outlet) that he might hang it up after this year.  I'd guess he still has another 2 or 3 good years left.

July 22, 2006
"I can't say that I feel I'm 100% sure I want to play next year and I can't say I'm definitely not going to play," Pettitte said yesterday. "I have no idea. I really don't even know if I want to play."

"I don't know where I'm at on anything. I wish I had more answers," said Pettitte, ...

"I signed a three-year deal. I wanted to play three years. I didn't want to play longer than that when I signed."

"When I left New York my whole goal in life was to try to help the Houston Astros first win a playoff series and then second, win a World Series or at least get to one.  We were able to do that last year. I wish we were able to win it. So now my goal is to try to help this team win a World Series. That's what's keeping me going."
