Went to the game last night, and who should appear on the mound for Iowa but Whitey himself: Wade Miller. I wasn't paying real close attention, but I don't think he ever brought anything over 85 mph according to the Dell gun. McEwing spanked two homers off of him, Round Rock won 6-3 thanks to 3 late runs off Iowa relievers. Albers looked ok, but not great. It was a grind-it-out night for him: 7 IP, 9 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 8 SO (I didn't realize he had that many SO until I read the box score). He got into a few situations, and it was nice to see him work his way out of them.
Pie looks pretty talented, and I think the Cubs would be idiots to resign Pierre for next year. Pie does look like he might be a bit of a dick (opinion based on some preening he did rounding the bases after a lead-off homer and the way he carries himself out in center between pitches), but that'll help him fit right in on the Cubs.
Surprisingly, there was no battery exchange table at the Dell Diamond gate.
