Here's another game recap being brought to you by WAKI radio, all rumor all the time...

The first thing to mention about this game is that Berkman, who started in right, left in the 3rd with what the AP is calling a "minor knee injury".

This beauty started for the Astros in the top the first with the bases loaded one out.  Tony Armas Jr. incensed at the balls and strikes calls, walked 2.  The scoring opportunity died when Lamb bounced one to 3d starting a round the horn dp.

In the bottom of the first Pettitte withered under a fussilade of singles and allowed 3 runs.  Vidro's 3 run homer in the 2nd made it 6-0 and by the time Pasadena left in the 3rd the Astros were down 7-1.  The one run coming when Pettitte hit an rbi double his own self.  Then the Astros started running, it looked like this,

SB - P Wilson 2 (5, 2nd base off T Armas Jr/M LeCroy, 3rd base off T Armas Jr/M LeCroy), E Bruntlett 2 (2, 2nd base off T Armas Jr/M LeCroy, 3rd base off T Armas Jr/M LeCroy), W Taveras (6, 2nd base off S Rivera/M LeCroy), C Burke (3, 2nd base off S Rivera/M LeCroy), M Ensberg (1, 2nd base off J Rauch/M LeCroy).

By the middle of the 7th the Nats catcher LeCroy was reduced to a puddle.  Frank Robinson had to put in emergency catcher Robert Fick for his first inning behind the plate this season.  I don't know if he had his own gear or if LeCroy had to shuck the armour on the field.  Lucky for Fick the bases were soon loaded and the Astros had no more room to run.  Alas, with the score 7-5, no outs, bases loaded, this happened,

A. Everett struck out swinging - C. Biggio hit for R. Springer - C. Biggio popped out to shallow left - C. Burke grounded out to pitcher

I suppose it would have been worse if I had seen it, or even heard it.

On the "bright side" Preston Wilson possibly irritiated by the taunting from last nights' crowd went 4x5, including a double.  He should be taunted more often.

"THSS" packs the tents and moves on to Pittsburgh.
