5/6 Shutout at Coors 5-0

Jason Jennings threw a shutout, striking out 9 and giving up 7 hits, 2 of which were bunts.  The Astros continued their K fest from last night, swinging early and often; 8 Ks were swinging.  Their best scoring opportunity was in the 2nd, Wilson singled but was erased on a dp.  Munson followed with a double. So the ghost runner scored.  They didn?t have another hit until Taveras? bunt single in the 6th.   Berkman also walked in that inning, putting 2 men on, but Ensberg struck out gawking to end the inning.

Meanwhile, NoCups? lips looked better, but he didn?t.  Trouble with control, a lead off walk in the 1st came around to score the first run of a two run inning.   In the 2nd, the HBP to the second batter scored on the ensuing double.  The 3rd started poorly.  Berkman, who thinks he?s a shortstop, ranged far to his right, but Wandy was late to the bag and the runner was safe, single and sac fly later it was 4-0.

Wandy settled down in the 4th and 5th and convinced Hickey and Garner to let him lead off the 6th and stay in to pitch.   He gave up a long homerun to center to Holliday in the bottom of the inning.

Also in that inning, the first batter hit a long fly to right.  Chris Burke, making the start for Lane, chased it to the wall, reaching up to make the catch.  He banged into the deceptively well padded looking wall with his glove arm extended, bounced off, then landed hard on the same shoulder.  He lay on the ground for a while and walked off holding his left arm.
