I didn't see the game so all this is second hand. The HUGE news is that Brandon Backe left after pitching 2 innings with a sprained right elbow. But not before taking his turn at bat in the 3rd. Garner then went with Buchholz for three innings and no longer because he probably considered they might need a pitcher in 3 days.
The JV played this game, and Lamb, Burke and apparently Munson all misplayed balls. Buchholz gave up 2 runs in the 5th due to Burke's bad throw, a bloop single by the pitcher Morris, a wild pitch, (assisted by Munson not staying down) a single and a sac fly.
Gallo gave up 2 more when he couldn't get Bonds out, jeez you give a guy one little job, and Alou added a run with another sac fly. Moises had homered in the 2nd to start the scoring.
Matt Morris kept them down through 7.2, but in the 8th Burke singled home 2 to reduce the lead to 5-3. But that's as far as it got.
