Clown to Bucs?
« on: January 01, 2006, 05:38:55 pm »
You know there's a chill on the hot stove when something like this pops up.  The same "sources" that gave you the hot item of Taveras for Contreras ( The Link has dug up some Dominican news service item that says the Pirates want Sammy the Clown and they postulate that would make Craig Wilson expendable.

No way to tell if this has any basis in reality at all, but Wilson wouldn't be a bad pickup if he's cheap.  I don't know what his contract status is but it seems that he'd make a decent corner outfield option.

Not sure what the guy brings with the glove, as he's moved from catcher, to first base, to the outfield....but I love his bat.  The guy can hit.

Mediocre but versatile glove, good stick.  I don't know what his cost would be though, and it's not like we need a 1B or C right now.
