Thanks to some artful negotiating by the baseball players' union, a part of gate receipts from postseason games goes into a common pool that's distributed to playoff teams -- with the biggest cut going to the World Series winners, who get 36 percent of the total to distribute as they see fit. Last season, the overall pool was more than $42 million, and the champion Boston Red Sox received a record $15 million to divide.

By custom, team members meet privately at the end of the regular season to vote on how the postseason "shares" will be allocated. Most regular players get a full share; some benchwarmers get a partial one. But in the euphoria of a successful season, players often find it in their hearts to make sure the clubhouse workers share in the proceeds, too.

Here's all I could find.  This was last year's for the Red Sox:

l Champion/League: Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball
   Bonus(1)*: $223,620
Number of shares: 58 full shares, 29 partial shares, 8 cash awards
Comment: After ending an 86-year championship drought, Red Sox players were very generous, awarding nearly twice as many shares as other recent title winners.

I would guess that means there's a set amount (223,620*58 plus whatever those partial shares were) and the team decides how to break it out between players, coaches, etc.
