"We weren't able to get it done. It ranks right up there, but we can still get it done and we will get it done. We'll go on to St. Louis and get it done."

This series is one that is too close to call.  From the start, right before the first pitch was thrown, I was amazed at how anything I read from pundits to idiots about the series was so hollow.  Nothing made any clear distinction between either club, except for blantant homerism.  Of the three Houston wins, none was a cakewalk except for late in game 2 when Sanders did a backflip into the warning track.  Of the two Co-ard wins, both Carpenter pitched games, nothing glaring stood out to distinguish the redbirds as heads above the 'stros.

Two teams with pretty much no secrets from each other.  Two teams who, if they were boxers, would be Hagler and Hearns at thier best, and either boxer will have to be killed to be beaten.  I don't doubt the next game and if necessary the game after that will still be nail-biters for all involved.

And until the last out is recorded for either team, no fan of either team will be over-confident and cocky.  Houston can be forgiven for last nights premature jubilatioonn given the magnitude of fit all, buut no more.  We've learned our lesson, but most importantly the young buck Astros did as well.

I like the 'tude in the players, what I've read today and what most of what has been said here.  Nothing to hang our heads about here, it was just one loss and that must be the perspective put on this.

And if you can believe Pettitte, they're going to battle again tomorrow and the next day if they have too, because they're not going to go downn with a wimper.

So true. I said before the series that I thought that favored the Cardinals because of their apparently better lineup. Less holes, less room for error for Houston pitchers.  It seems that familiarity usually favors offense.

But what has actually happened is that the familiarity has made this thing absolutely unpredictable.  I have no idea what to expect in game 6.  Oswalt repeats his game 2 performance?  Or the Cards hit him like they did during the regular season.

And that's why betting on baseball is really stupid.
