eBay tickets

tickets on ebay for games 3-5 are up now. for games 3 and 4, upper deck is 600 a pop, field level is 1500 a pop. game 5 is a little cheaper right now, but i think the series will go at least 5. looks like a good thing to move on now. after we win tonight, they'll go up a lot.

This is my first time seeking out really hard-to-find tickets for a soldout game (never really had to fight that too much growing up in Houston). That's further complicated by living 1500 miles away in Philadelphia.

Thus, my question: besides eBay (which somehow doesn't seem the best option), what other (hopefully reputable) sites out there are good to look for tickets?

I had friends who bought Stanley Cup tickets during the Lightning's run from  RazorGator without any problems.

My limited experience so far is to wait until closer to game time to buy. Prices for the tickets I bought for this weekend were going for 200-250 (and as high as 350) each last week (especially last Monday)... but I sat in the Crawford boxes for $100 Saturday, 133 Row 11 for $100 yesterday and I paid $115 for 132 row 30 tonight... all of those tickets were bought the day before the game.

Yeah, I know it isn't the same thing exactly, but my advice (and my personal plan) is to wait until the day before the game.

I agree. The only sellers in the market right now are ticket brokers who have no interest in the game, and sell for a living. They are selling mostly tickets obtained from season ticket holders. Also, they have a target price, and they move so many tickets, that they have little incentive to drop the price even on the lousiest seats until right before game time.

If the Astros make it, there will be hundreds or even thousands of "fans" who bought tickets through the lottery who decide that making a few hundred bucks is worth seeing the game on TV. Once those tickets hit the market, the price, at least for crappy seats, will come down.

The people sitting behind me yesterday were already debating after the game ended whether to sell or use their tickets to Monday's game.

Of course, bear in mind that face value starts at $125 for the World Series, so even at $500, the mark-up is "only" 400 percent.
