Born 100 years ago. 24 page insert in New York Times in commemoration. Very well done. Would be a good addition to a baseball memorabilia collection.

The Main Street Theater in Houston is putting on a performance of Jackie and Me, which is a play about Jackie Robinson geared towards upper elementary to high school kids, but I'm sure enjoyable for anyone. Following the Sunday February 17 matinee there will be a discussion with former Astros coach Deacon Jones about his experiences meeting Jackie Robinson and his own baseball journey. I'm sure it will be great.

Journey indeed: you gotta read this about Deac and his wife Virginia's experience when he played in the Sally in 1961-1962. Powerful shit.

Also as that article notes, the man still holds the record for highest batting average (.409) in Midwest League history. And he did it despite suffering an arm injury.
