Hope everyone is having a pleasant Memorial Day. Most families have lost loved ones in various conflicts in our nation's history.   May those wounds heal and the honor of the lost one's memory live on.

Astros strand 2 when JDs flare gets tracked down in shallow center.

Verlander puts them down 1, 2, 3 including a nice battle with Judge for the second out (rolled over on 3-2 slider,  6-3 on a nice backhand pickup by CC).

Astros scoreless in the top of the 7th.

Yankees get a run on a Bird solo shot to right.   A 2 out single by Gregorius chases Verlander. Harris comes in,  Gregorius steals second,  Andújar goes full,  and Adujar goes down swinging.

Verlander gives up the tater and his ERA "explodes" by more than 10%. That's all he gives up as Harris gets the last out in the 7th.

4-1 Astros after 7.
He breezed him, one more time!

Astros get a run back on Altuve's solo homer to left. Yuli stranded after an infield single.

Devo in,  gives up a leadoff single. A 3-6 FC get the lead runner,  bringing up Judge who fans for the second out.  Sanchez then fouls off a 96 mph pill, misses the CoD, lays off a pitch outside,  then fans.

This game has been blessedly devoid of the cheesedick Yankee strikeout whistle.

Doubling down on yesterday’s strategy. That has to work now.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Marisnick has now tied the major league mark for worst strikeout to walk ratio in MLB history at 48-1. Needs one more K to set new mark.

I sure hope we get a double play here. If we have back to back base hits to start this inning I’m gonna puke.

Davis grounds out 3U, McCann lines out to the shifted SS right of 2B, Jake Ks swinging.

Giles in, Bird lines a 1-2 FB into left.  Torres goes 0-2, can't catch up to the high heat and Ks.  Hicks taps back to Giles, out 1-3 as Bird goes to second. Gregorius takes a strike on the corner, watches a 58 footer,  taps one foul,  then grounds out to Davis 3U to end it.

Nice win after yesterday! Great job by the whole team and especially Giles after the lead off single.

Another big game by JV. What else needs to be said there.

Big homers by Davis and Tuve!!

I loved the fact that you could hear a chant of “Let’s go Astros” in Yankee Stadium!
