Yordano Ventura, dead at 25
« on: January 22, 2017, 10:57:23 am »
Breaking news that Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura killed in a car accident last night.  He was 25.

http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/18531119/kansas-city-royals-right-hander-yordano-ventura-25-killed-car-accident

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Is it just me or does it feel like every off season at least one player dies in a car accident down there?

the above article says that he was friends with Taveras the uber-prospect for the Cards. Very sad.

Former top prospect Andy Marte died similarly (a different car accident) last night as well.

Former top prospect Andy Marte died similarly (a different car accident) last night as well.

"Marte played his final career MLB game on Aug. 6, 2014, against the Royals. He appeared as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning, facing Greg Holland, and struck out to end the game. The winning pitcher for the Royals that day was Ventura, who allowed two runs in six innings as the starter. The two did not face each other in the game."
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

According to Pedro Martinez:

"Ahora es más doloroso al saber que Yordano quedo vivo luego del accidente y en vez de alguien socorrerlo, le robaron y lo dejaron morir."

Yikes.

"Now it is more painful to know that Yordano remained alive after the accident and instead of someone to help him, they robbed him and let him die."

What kind of Puerto Rican are you?

Just quoted Pedro verbatim, so I didn't misquote in translation.  Because if true, that's really fucked up and sad.
