How many leadoff HRs is that now? He's gunning for Craig.

Springer walks, Correa doubles him home, advances to 3rd on the throw. Rasmus drives Correa in.

13 is the AL and MLB record (Soriano). Interestingly he also has the NL record with 12. I would've guessed Ricky (who does have the career record over Biggio by a fairly wide margin).

Tucker hits a ton of bullets right up the middle. His average is bad, but he always looks like a competent hitter.

It's new this year.

Yes, always tried my best to block out that he has his own last name tattooed on his throwing arm, which no doubt he thinks is a clever homophone.

Fiers gets two quick outs, then gives up two singles.  Gets a punchout to end the threat.

3-0 Astros, middle of the second

Um, it's a tattoo? Unfortunately, I won't be around when these guys get old and saggy, but you guys who will be around should get a pretty good laugh.

A pitcher's not allowed to use a glove that's considered distracting nor a baseball glove on his glove hand. I've always wondered what the result would be if a pitcher deliberately got a distracting tattoo on his pitching arm. I guess he'd always have to wear a sleeve.

I am very grateful that I am a bit too old for tattoos. I don't know when exactly they began to be a necessary accessory, nor do I know if they still are. All I know is that I would not want anything permanent on me. Particularly not something I thought was cool when I was 20. It's a good thing I don't still have the same haircut I did when I was 20. Only someone like Dark Star can pull that off.

Anyway, I was riding my bike along Miami Beach one afternoon and I saw a woman jogging in front of me. She was in excellent shape and as I got closer to her I realized that she was well into her 50s, at least. The vast majority of 20 year old girls would sell their best friend to have a body like this woman did. She must have been wearing a bikini top because her back was exposed. She had an oriental tattoo that covered virtually all of her back like some sort of Yakuza boss. It was nothing new, mind you. She'd been carrying this around since she went on a self-exploration backpacking trip through Indonesia in 1972, you know? It looked fucking terrible. It was fucked up and faded and the way skin naturally ages just blurred the whole thing into something Monet might have painted in his 80s.

So I imagine in 20 or 30 years there's going to be a lot of Navin Johnson reads his mail in the bathtub sorts of echoes as people try to figure out what everyone has scrawled all over themselves.

I saw a cook in Montevideo once who had on his forearm a bunch of random, Jackson Pollock style squiggles in various colors. I thought, hell, if I ever had to get a tattoo that's the route I would take.

My dad had a heart in light blue ink on the inside of his left wrist. He gave it to himself at some point for who knows what reason and it was just barely visible. I could go that route, too, I guess, a subtle nod to the old man.

This guy just hates pitching with a big lead.

I don't care for tatted up women, say while I'm watching porn, for example.  I don't find it sexy at all.  Not even a little.  Mrs. Hawk has a "aTM" on her ankle, but luckily I'm not Rex Ryan.

The chick who got banned from social media for posting her (pretty good) painting (I think it was) of Trump with a micropenis has a project where people all over the world send her phrases or designs or who knows what for her to tattoo on her body. She's reserved most of her body for this.

Like you, I realize that a lot of these people do shit like this to put some distance between them and me but what was wrong with wearing stupid clothes and having a fucked up haircut?

What you would identify as a "hipster" has already ironically coopted this exact tattoo. Any tattoo artist in Park Slope worth his or her weight in sublimated gravalax should be able to knock it out in 15.

In Park Slope you could find a nice locally sourced seaweed bruschetta with invigorated butter but for a hipster tattoo I'm pretty sure you'd need to go to Bushwick.

A pitcher's not allowed to use a glove that's considered distracting nor a baseball glove on his glove hand. I've always wondered what the result would be if a pitcher deliberately got a distracting tattoo on his pitching arm. I guess he'd always have to wear a sleeve.
He does, it's the Justin Miller rule.

I remember him passing away a few years ago at age 35, but couldn't recall why. A quick google search revealed nothing about his cause of death. Very strange.

I once slammed a fountain pen into my palm, and have a blue dot in the middle of the left hand.  It's a very nice tat.  Correa, it's about damn time.
I have the same on my right palm from a pencil in the 9th grade.

My back of the envelope calculation yields a 100% probability of winning a game when a team wins the run differential in that game.

Fiers can't make it 5 inning after his offense gives him 9 runs. No question whose place McCullers takes.

O'Rourke in for the Twins...

Gattis, pinch hitting for Tucker, singles to CF on the first pitch
Marwin walks, Gattis to 2B
Valbuena sac bunt, 3U, Gattis to 3B, Marwin to 2B
Castro...infield in...walks

That's all for O'Rourke...Graham in

Altuve doubles off the top of the RCF wall...would've been a triple except Castro stopped for a cigarette at 3B...Gattis scores, Marwin scores, Castro to 3B
Springer flies out F9...Castro holds and the throw almost goes into the Twins dugout
Correa singles to LF, Castro scores, Altuve to 3B
Rasmus walks, Correa to 2B
Gomez rolls one up the middle, it hits the bag at 2B...Altuve scores, Correa scores, Rasmus to 3B on the rare infield double
Gattis strikes out looking

14-4 Astros after five

In Park Slope you could find a nice locally sourced seaweed bruschetta with invigorated butter but for a hipster tattoo I'm pretty sure you'd need to go to Bushwick.
Exactly. No room for tattoo parlors in Park Slope anyway, with all the boutique fair trade organic baby accessory shops. The hipsters are still mostly in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, and Bushwick, as far as I can tell, although they've certainly crept their way into Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, and even Bed-Stuy.

I get that but this lineup should be able to support a light-hitting catcher that pitchers like working with and is at least league-average defensively. The primary DHs, Gattis and Tucker, have combined for a .208 BA and a .382 SLG.

It all depends upon what the term "light hitting catcher" means. For me, I measure it by what Ausmus used to produce; anything less than that is light hitting. However, there's a difference between light hitting and anemic hitting, which is where Castro was until recently. I agree with you about DH production.
