Offspeed pitch and a double clutch by the catcher, and it's not even close at 2B.

Had to be a late break on a hit and run, right? Surely it wasn't a straight steal.

Normally I'd assume it was a hit and run because the pitch was at eye level...but then it was Altuve after all...

A little PBP...

T6:

Springer hit by pitch
Correa...3-0...takes for 3-1...takes for 3-2...lines a screamer right at the first baseman who dives, catches it and falls onto 1B for the double play
Gattis grounds out softly 6-3

2-1 Astros

Which was immediately followed up by a game tying homer.  Fuck Ashby.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

B6:

Marte hammers a home run deep to RF
Seager smacks one to the right side, diving stop by Carter, flips to Lance for the 3-1
Cruz strikes out for the third time
Cano lines out to RF

All tied at 2

I honestly don't understand bunting with Gomez, as Castro has zero chance of making contact.

I suspect it has to do with Gomez' injury, but yeah, doesn't make sense unless you're gonna PH for Castro. Which I'm not sure why they didn't...

You don't PH for Castro because you can't afford to have Conger behind the plate.

I get it, but it's frustrating because Castro had no chance.  None.  At all.  You have a better chance of Gomez hitting a flair on a half swing than Castro making contact against a tough lefty.

I would have PH for Castro and had Stassi catch the 9th. I ain't the manager though.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Angels with the winning run at 3B and nobody out
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I agree.  I think had it been tied or the Astros down, that's what would have happened.  But Hinch probably figured with a lead, having Castro behind the plate is more important.  At least that's my guess.

Angels get an unearned run in the 9th, walk off 5-4.

So the Astros stay tied for the second wild card spot.

Where did the Angels miss 2 games?

ETA:  Nevermind.  Only one game, and they play it Thursday against the Rangers.
