Live Long and Prosper, Leonard Nimoy

I shall do neither.

As much a part of my childhood as anything else. I've had a triple whammy today, and this one has brought me down low.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

He did both. RIP Mr. Spock

Yes, R.I.P.

I never watched any of the Star Trek stuff; but I liked his hosting of the In Search Of ... series in the late 1970s-early 1980s.

The show was kind of lightweight and limited, and covered the standard subjects for that type venture - Stonehenge, Roswell, the Bermuda Triangle, the Coral Castle thing in Florida, etc. - but as the host, Nimoy played it right down the middle. He didn't come on like a Giorgio Tsoukalos/Ancient Alien-type promoter/hustler, but he did not scorn the subject matter either.  There are a million In Search Of ... type shows on now, but back then Nimoy's series was the only one the a born skeptic could watch without wanting to throw something at the TV.

I know he'll be remembered mostly for his Star Trek related stuff; but not only for that.

Also great as the master of disguise character in Mission Impossible (he replaced Martin Landau for at least one season, if not more). It was a great role, he would get to play a "Cuban-Dictator" or "Arabian Shiek" like part and then his character would get to disguise himself as the guy.

Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

The Simpsons (I'm assuming that was him) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I definitely remember geeking out to In Search Of as a kid.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

If one was so inclined, every episode of In Search Of... is on YouTube.

He directed "Three Men and a Baby".
