Not saying that springer is necessarily going to be as prolific as Stanton by any means, but half a Stanton is still ~$15mm per so don't think his agent won't comp him to Stanton if he continues to be a high power/lower avg-ish type guy on a team with a perception of being parsimonious of late and that lacks goodwill with its fan base.
I get what you are saying - there are some similarities there. But I just think Stanton is too unique, and excellent, to directly affect the salary of anyone but the Trout/Harper phenom types. He just turned 25, which means he's actually a couple months
younger than Springer. Age matters a lot in contract negotiations, and the execs and agents seem to have gotten this stuff down to a fine science now as far as finding appropriate players/contracts to compare their players to. I don't think Jason Castro's agent is gonna try to compare him to Joe Mauer, even though they're both LH-hitting catchers who've been All-Stars.
But if you believe that a rising tide lifts all boats, then sure, his agent's excited.
