Per BA. Doesn't mention a connection with Hinch but I assume there is one?

I don't know of any connection to Hinch.  But Hillman is a "baseball man", having been a player, a scout, a manger at several levels, and a front office guy.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I'm wondering too if this is in part an effort to make Japanese players more comfortable about signing with the team.

I was really disappointed when I learned it was the Nippon-Ham "Fighters", not the Nippon "Ham Fighters"

Jeff Bannister is the new Rangers manager.

I realize it's a news articles and reporting is generally crap, but the logic in that article is wanting: the Rangers like Clint Hurdle for all these reasons, therefore they want his bench coach.
