Angles and Astros, April 4th (I think)
« on: April 04, 2014, 07:31:54 pm »
Angels up 1-0 in the top of the second, with two on and no out.  Harrell struggling with command (what's new).
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I don't think Harrell is trusting his stuff.

Aybar strikes out looking on three perfect pitches at the knees on the corner.
Next guy hits a chopper right at Dominguez, who makes a perfect throw to Corporan to get the out at home, but Corporan gags the the throw to 1B so no double play to end the inning, bringing up Trout.
Trout walks on four pitches to force in another run.  2-0 Angels.
Pujols grounds weakly on a 3-1 pitch, is out 5-3 to end the threat.

Angels up only 2-0, but Harrell is a fucking wreck.

How is Harrell and not Peacock in the starting rotation?

B2:

Kraus with a leadoff walk
Cartesr strikes out.  Imagine that.
Krauss takes 2B on a wild pitch
Guzman with a single to CF, Trout with a huge lollipop into the plate, but Krauss with a horrible jump and running in wet sand carrying 1,000 pounds on his back, is out at the plate.  Guzman into 2B.
Corporan strikes out to end the inning.

They don't have time for Peacock to be a starter.  There is a 9 hour time limit on games.

Are they hoping he uses some smoke and mirrors long enough that they can trade him? This shit is just a repeat of last year for Harrell. Nothing has changed.

T3:

Hamilton singles to CF
Freese singles to RF, Hamilton to 3B
Ibanez strikes out
Kendrick with a deep fly to RF, Grossman runs in a circle and let's it hit his foot.  Hamilton scores, Freese to 3B, Kendrick into 2B
Iannetta witha fly ball to RF, Grossman again runs in a circle and let's it hit his foot.  Freese scores, but Kendrick stays at 2B, presumably to tag up.  Iannetta and Kendrick end up on 2B together, but Astros kick the ball around the infield while Kendrick moves on into 3B.
Aybar with a liner to RF, Kendrick scores.
Calhoun grounds out 4-3 to end the comedy.

Middle of the 3rd...Angels 5, Bad News Bears 0.

Dominguez grounds out 6-3
Marwin with a lazy fly ball to CF, two out

T4:

Jerome Williams and his pink mitt are in to pitch for the Astros.  Harrell, in 3 innings allowed 5 runs, all earned, on 7 hits, striking out three and walking three.

Trout with a lazy fly to CF, finally get that guy out.
Poophole grounds out 5-3
Hamilton takes strike three, but it's called a ball, then hit's a weak ground ball through the shift for a single
Freese grounds into 6-4 FC, to end the inning.

5-0 Angels.

B4:

Grossman grounds out 5-3
Altuve with a liner to RF, Calhoun with a diving bid, but can't grab it.  Single for Altuve.
Krauss flies out F7, 2 away
Carter, hitting a cool .091 on the season, inexplicably lays off the breaking ball down and away to draw a walk, Altuve to 2B
Guzman grounds into 6-4 FC to end the inning.

Big JW still on the bump...

Ibanez strikes out
Kendrick flies out F9, 2 away
Iannetta stikes out swinging...

Williams looking pretty solid out there.

Time to rattle the bats.

I saw something somewhere that showed Carter has a huge whiff rate on fastballs in, which I wouldn't expect.

B5:

Corporan flies out F7, 1 down
Dominguez walks
Gonzalez strikes out, 2 away
Presley with a single into RCF, Dominguez to 3B
Grossman walks to fill the pond...a little 2-out something working
Altuve walks to force in Dominguez
Krauss...battling, fighting off good benders...takes strike three at the ankles. Horrible call...ump musta had to go piss.

Astros get a runs, but leave the bases juiced...still down 5-1.

Someone else will have to take PBP.  I gotta go pack and get ready to avoid the redshirts on the way to the airport.

They are getting payback for last season I suppose. But its a beautiful day here in Seoul and the cherry blossoms have bloomed so I should get out and enjoy myself. This is gonna be a looooong season.

Recap by NeilT

Great recap, NeilT!!! My oldest and I were at the new Alex Box stadium taking in the LSU-Miss. St. game, which we won 3-0 on a two hit gem by Austin Nola. The Astros were abysmal. Zitz 'em and go pound Budweiser and get 'em tomorrow.
