Our most heartfelt prayers and deepest sorrows
« on: December 14, 2012, 03:31:39 pm »
For the folks whose lives were touched by the Clackamas Town Center shooting earlier this week (a couple of miles from my home) and for the lives that were touched by the shooting this morning on the other side of the country in Newton, Connecticut, our most heartfelt prayers and deepest sorrows/sympathies go out to you and yours.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Indeed. I don't and never will understand what motivates someone to act so callously as to take the lives of innocent people who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The shooters in each case had to have been mentally deranged.

A 30-round semi-automatic Bushmaster in the hands of a 20-something.  We're really nuts.

I've kept as much distance as possible from the CT shooting story other than glances at headlines.  It's simply devastating.  I cannot fathom what those parents are going through.

Well said, OSF.

Prayers and sympathies to all who suffer. I don't understand how or why someone could do that. I guess there's nothing to understand, except the guy was fucked up crazy.

That's so sad. Killed by her own weapon.

Word now is that he tried to purchase a gun a few days ago, but was turned down.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Just returned from London, where I had lunch with a friend who works at the American Embassy there. Personnel there, American and not, are deeply saddened by the events. Connecticut is all over the news there.
