This was pretty much inevitable when Scully announced that he wasn't hanging it up yet. For some reason, Milo puts himself in Scully's company. Somebody needs to point out to him that longevity is not the same thing as quality.

Fuck. The squeeze really only works for teams that are capable of scoring without a squeeze. If the other team knows that's the only way you can get a guy in, you're doomed.

Of course, then Greene makes me look really stupid by cranking one off the facade in left.

Tough luck for Ambriz. Threw some good, very close pitches to Stubbs, who rarely walks, then gives up the bouncer single that would've been an easy play for Altuve had he not been covering 2nd with Stubbs going.

We've entered the phase of the game where the bullpen starts leaking.

Those three run dingers are just no fun.

I bet there's a great disparity between the number the Astros have hit vs. the number they've allowed this year. 3 to 50, perhaps?

This bullpen absolutely blows. Lopez is the best they've got, and he'd be a reasonable 6th/7th inning guy for a real club.

No, Lopez is a perfectly legit setup guy, but for some reason, he just completely loses it at times. I don't know if it's concentration, or what. Frustrating.

Has Norris hung himself in the tunnel yet?  I'll bet - against all his better judgement - he was counting this one as a win already.  A little.

I have to admit that I wondered to myself about how pissed the Reds would be to drop 2 out of 3 to the Astros. I quickly caught myself and begged forgiveness from the baseball gods, but they're not in the forgiveness business.

In a "normal" year I might feel compelled to harangue you a little for this.  But you provoking the baseball gods has to be way, way down the list of causes for this team's fucked-up-edness.

I'm looking at the 1962 Mets, and their pitching is the only reason to think they don't kick the living shit out of this team. The day to day lineup is better, but that pitching was really bad, enough to draw it a little closer.

What a curious collection of has-beens and never-wases that team was.  And they had both Bob Millers, too.  I'll bet that made for some confusing calls to the bullpen.
