Rest in peace, Jon Lord
« on: July 16, 2012, 03:38:38 pm »
Dead at 71 from complications related to pancreatic cancer.

I loved Deep Purple. They were one of the most brilliant and technically proficient bands of that golden era of music, and Jon Lord was truly gifted with the ability to bridge classical music and rock.

I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

Jon Lord was a master on the Hammond B3, he could play rock organ like no one else. RIP.

Because of Jon Lord (and Garth Hudson), I once had possession of a B3 for a few months a about 30 years ago. I couldn't anything on it that sounded remotely musical, but I was able to trade it straight up for a Honer clavinet and a Wurlitzer electric piano. I sucked on both of those too.

The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
