I'm not so sure about that. But, to return to my question, surely she should have seen the boo birds a comin' from afar. NASCAR fans do not fit the demographic group that the president is popular with. Had I been on her staff, I'd have never let her accept that gig.

You're better than the "she had it coming" line of reasoning.

How about a little common human decency?  I enjoy NASCAR.  I think most NASCAR fans are good people.  But they were total dickheads on this, and should be called out on it.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Michelle Obama and Jill Biden were the grand marshals of the race, there with Iraq/Afghanistan veterans to support a program that helps veterans re-enter the job market after coming back from war.  The crowd was none too nice, though it's said they all got a standing O at the drivers' meeting the night before.

OWS is a political event, but NASCAR is just a sport.

Not to mention Mrs. Obama is not political and she was there for a non-political cause, that you would think the NASCAR yahoos would embrace.

Which makes it more inappropriate.  Why would FLOTUS not expect at least a civil reception at a sporting event?

IIRC, Sarah Palin, while running for VP, was booed at an NFL game where she was dropping the ceremonial first puck.  Those fans got bad press too.

Sarah Palin doesn't know that they play football with a ball and not a puck. What's confusing about that?

They booed her, not because of her political views, but because she couldn't tell a football from a hockey puck.

And because she couldn't tell Gnarls Barkley from Charles Barkley.

Seriously...who is "Gnarls" Barkley?  Is that not just a typo?

A band, or two singers backed up by a band.  The song you may have heard was "Crazy" about 5 years ago.  But since that coincides with your XM subscription, I'd guess not.

I consider Danger Mouse a musician as well.

Sure, but evidently, producer is the same a playing instruments in the realm of hip-hop/alternative hip hop.

There's an Austin City Limits Gnarls Barkley set that shows up from time to time.  I don't remember Danger Mouse singing much, but he does play keyboards.  they have more to do with Rythm & Blues than hip hop.

I know I'm a curmudgeonly old bastard, but it's a damn shame what passes for Rhythm and Blues these days. You can hunt for a long time before you find any blues in there, and melisma sure as shit isn't emotion, it's showing off.

Alternative Hip-hop, Soul, R&B...there are many ways to categorize.

It had gone away and seemingly run its course, but it's baa-ack, riding in where autotune is slinking out.

I've been listening to Louis Armstrong, Harry James and Benny Goodman all morning.

Well, plus a couple of Rammstein songs.

Mrs. Hawk still listens to Top 40 commercial radio, so it's entirely possible that I've heard them/it.

I don't listen to TOp 40 radio, but I liked both Gnarls and Cee Lo's solo stuff.
