I don't want to set you off about Sarah Palin, but before you go off about history-gorvellers, you should know that Henry Wadsworth Longfellow tops the list. His famous poem is almost complete fantasy. And while Revere was among those who carried the warning "near and far", he was also a documented coward and highly-suspected kingpin of the very active corruption crowd in the Massachusetts Volunteers. Check out the historical documents surrounding the Penobscot debacle and you will get a much better picture of Paul Revere than Longfellow gives us.

There is no better PR guy than Longfellow, but if she can't even get the accepted myth right she has no business claiming to "know her American history." Not that it would stop her from doing so anyway.
Then again, Davy Crockett didn't go out blowing up the magazine either, but I'll deck anybody who says so.
