Titans at Texans
« on: November 28, 2010, 01:36:35 pm »
Should be a bazillion to none, but I'll take 14-0 at the half.

Texans made sure to maintaining their league leading, cluster-fuck two minute drill.

An ejection used to be an automatic suspension. Is this no longer the case?

Saw a couple people say first time punchers don't usually get suspended, especially when they are hitting the leagues premier asshole.

CBS had a bit of the post game team meeting and Andre got the first game ball... he gave a brief speech thanking his team and apologizing for losing his composure.  Cool, classy guy.

It looked like his last one caught shoulder pads. I hope he didn't hurt a hand.

Oh, it WAS an article at the Chron sports page.  It was entitled "Do Not Post something something something."  In the article, McClain wrote a paragraph stating that Andre will be fined $7,500 and not suspended.  Then a paragraph about the prick Finnegan, then there was a paragraph stating that Andre was to be fined $25,000 and suspended for a game, then a paragraph about the prick Finnegan.  I guess McClain was preparing for multiple scenarios.  Obviously not intended for public consumption, but some dipshit put it up anyway.  It is gone now.

Hasn't the Titan's team and organization (and Jeff Fisher) been accused by other teams as being "dirty" before?  If so, nothing new in terms of tatics to try and disrupt the team that is beating you in the scoreboard.  Why isn't the Titan's team looked at more closely by the league?  Because it probably makes for better NFL drama to have a definitive black hat team (or several of them for that matter).

Haynesworth and Jones were the "bad element".  Add Finnegan, Vanden Bosch and Bulluck and they've been a team that was real close to being on the wrong side of the fence over the past few years.

But I don't consider Fisher a "dirty" coach or the Titans necessarily a dirty team.  It's just football.  It pays to have an aggressive personality.

It's not Fisher, but Chuck Cecil, who is one of the dirtiest cocksucks to ever disgrace a football field.

Up now on the Chronicle's site:

"Chron.com incorrectly posted a story this morning saying the NFL had reached a decision on the Andre Johnson fight situation.
Chron.com regrets the error.
When a decision is reached, Chron.com will post the story."

So much for McClain's claim that chron.com breaks all the Texans stories.

Certainly.  I cringed when the Oilers brought him (and Charles Martin a decade earlier) aboard.

I actually (for some odd reason) vaguely remember a coach (maybe Jack Del Rio) saying that Jeff Fisher is to blame for the dirty play of his team because he condones it and outright makes it a priority (or something to that effect).  Fisher reacted angrily to that coach's opinion and said something to the effect of "He should worry more about his own team and not ours."

Was I mistaken about this incident not too long ago?

It was earlier this season.  Josh McDaniels said it.

It was earlier this season.  Josh McDaniels said it.

Ahhhhh... thanks!  I need to pay better attention.

Here is the story.

Interesting what player is in the center of this as well:

Quote
"I think we were the tougher team today.  You always hear about how tough they are and all that stuff. I don't think they're tough. I think they're cheap.  If that's the type of player Cortland Finnegan wants to be, well, then, he's a cheap player, not a good player." (Kyle Orton)

Finnegan had allegedly taken a swing at Broncos OL Chris Kuper while Kuper's helmet was off during a play.

For his part, Jeff Fisher denied any talk of the Titan's cheap play, pointing instead to the Broncos inability to protect Kyle Orton for much of the game.

And here is a picture of Finnegan punching Kuper in the head during the scrum.

Cheap shot by a cheap shot artist

Josh McDaniel's comments placing the blame on Fisher:
Quote
"I was proud of our team because we knew that was the kind of game it was going to be," McDaniels told the Denver Post. "You can put any tape you want to of Tennessee and there's going to be 10 penalties. You either coach it or you allow it to happen. That's how I look at that."

Not to get anyone overly excited, but if a minor miracle occurs tomorrow night and the Texans pull out a victory in Philly then the season is completely alive going into the MNF game against Baltimore.

The remaining three games would then be: @Tennessee, @Denver, and Jacksonville

I'll be watching the LeBron-a-thon, since TW and NFLN can't play nice together.
