21st Century Snake Oil...
« on: May 03, 2010, 11:37:31 pm »
...and the Astros that buy it:

Allison Footer has a story about some necklaces and bracelets that have become popular with the team:http://footer.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/05/whats_the_deal_with_those_neck.html

The company, EFX, makes the claim:
Quote
"EFX's holographic technology contains algorithms and frequencies that interact positively with this energy field in both humans and animals at the cellular level. When placed near the body, especially at key energy centers such as the hands and feet, EFX's products will harmonize with the body's naturally occurring bioelectric frequencies."

I'm guessing there are no double blind studies published in the New England Journal of Medicine. Berkman, among others are big believers. A Rice education is not what it once was.

Hell, if they make it 8 straight losses I'm going to watch Fevered Pitch or Steel Magnolias... Anything to turn the tide!
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Baseball players superstitioius?  Alert the Press!!

Next thing you know they'll want to have a hole in their sock or refuse to step on the foul line.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you wear women's underwear, then you ARE! And you should know that!
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

Clearly it's something the pitching staff should be wearing, not the hitters.

I don't care if the "hitters" go to the plate in nothing but garters if it will stop the slapdickery we've witnessed so far.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Are Bourn and Keppinger wearing them?  If they aren't the rest of the team should take them off.
