What might have been
« on: June 03, 2009, 03:06:15 pm »
I'm at home today, and I'm watching the MLB channel. They've got the Astros-Brewers game from 8/12/98 on, with Johnson clubbing the Brewers like a bunch of baby seals. That team was so good, I still cannot fathom how the Padres beat them. I mean, I know how it happened, but I don't understand how it happened.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Here you go.

A good thing to remember in any competitive endeavor is that no matter how good you are, there is somebody out there somewhere who will kick your ass for you. Sometimes they appear in the form of a psychotic, toilet-hating, roid-raging son of a bitch, sometimes not.

I second this emotion. I was having a pretty good day too, until I looked at that.

I was having an entirely shitty day.  Now I'm going to kill the next person that passes my desk.  I will later devise the reason that they deserved it.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

A pox on the baseball executive who decided there should be an off day between games one and two in the postseason--at least that postseason, anyway.

Don't look at me, I didn't start it. besides, you needed an explosive topic anyway. How much of Alkie's "country come to town" revelations, lineup whining and Footer stalking can one group of slackers engage in? Answer: obviously plenty. You should thank me.

Sabia Usted Que...?   You can keep goats on your terrace as long as they are 10 feet from the side of the building or any combustable object.   Fact.

Well, what good is a goat that cannot be near a combustable object?  How do you think you get cabrito?
