UT #1 seed overall?
« on: May 25, 2009, 01:33:16 pm »
Based on the handful of times I've seen them this year, that seems pretty generous. But that probably means this will be a wide open tournament.

The committee considering UT the #1 seed made Baylor's win over UT last weekend a little more impressive, and that might have been the tipping point that got the Bears into the NCAA tournament.

I've seen them look like a lock for Omaha, and I've also seen them look like a lock for their fourth straight regional elimination.

Who knows...

The top overall seed hasn't won in a long time, and after a regional 4-seed won last year, it's hard to put too much stock in the seeding process.

I am very much hoping for a Super Regional between Texas and A&M. That would be a lot of fun.

For Texas.  A&M has played like crap for the last couple of weeks.

That would be fun.  So would TCU.  I think the Horns have the pitching.  Hope the bats stay hot.

My LSU Tigers are the third seed, and will host a super regional if they make it. It could be LSU vs. Rice IIRC.

Yes, that would be the pairing. If LSU didn't prevail in their regional but Rice won theirs, would Rice inherit the hosting privilege for the super?

I think that is how it works, but I'm not certain.

Does anybody know if any of the games will be on XM?  I noticed some of the conferences have started putting their baseball games up on XM.

The Super Regional would be hosted by whoever the NCAA determined had the best bid.  In the scenario you're talking about, Rice would probably be granted the SR, but it's based on geography, ability to sell tickets and the general whims of the NCAA.

Horns won in 25 innings last night over BC, longest game in NCAA history.

Woods, who threw 169 pitches, including 120 strikes, was relieved by Dicharry, who retired the next two hitters.

How many folks were still there at the end?  Just curious.  Talk about epic.

I saw some pictures taken from the stands and it looked like quite a few, definitely several hundred if not a thousand or more.

Couple hours ago?  Sheesh, that's a long game.  BC didn't have much for the Black Knights today, it appeared.
