MLB At-Bat 2009 Now Available

Only $10 bucks from your friendly, neighbourhood iPhone App Store.  This appears to include the GameDay Audio too, in which case it's a fantastic bargain.

Only because I was typing, and not simply pasting a link!  Grrrrr.

And you're right... it does include the audio, but only on the device. To get the audio on your PC I believe you still have to purchase that separately. For me, the device works much better, as streaming media is now blocked at work, and that's really the only time I used it.

Streaming audio has got to be a battery killer, but you can always dock it with some shielded speakers and you're off to the ballgame.  I really liked last year's app, and this year looks even better.

Yeah, I usually just plug it into the computer or the A/C outlet adaptor.

What are shielded speakers?

What are shielded speakers?

They shield the speakers against the cell phone signal.  Otherwise, your listening pleasure is interrupted by that horrible buzzing that most cell phones cause when too close to speakers.  Basically, you need something that states it's iPhone compatible, rather than iPod compatible (even then it's not certain to be shielded) because, while you can plug your iPhone into iPod compatible stuff, you get blasted by the buzzing.

And, if you're streaming an internet audio feed, it's going to be buzzing the whole time.

Here's an example of a product that works with the iPhone properly.  Also, my (now discontinued) iPod Hi-Fi does the same thing.

For those of us with a Blackberry, MLB has released something similar to the iphone app.  Looks like it is web based instead of a separate app.  It's $14.95 and includes audio.  Go to mlb.com on your Blackberry, and you should be able to see it.  I'm having some trouble getting the audio working right now though, but it looks like this is a common issue that they are working on fixing.

I was pleasantly surprised to find how well the iPhone app worked in my car yesterday afternoon. I plugged it into my FM transmitter, started streaming audio (over EDGE, no less), and got pretty good audio played through my car speakers on my commute home. Didn't expect it to work with the car speakers through the dock connecter (some apps do, some don't), and definitely didn't expect such a steady signal while driving. Already worth the money I spent on it.

Rumours are that the next generation iPhone will be able to broadcast FM itself, which will make this even easier (whilst murdering the battery).
