Ayinger Jahrhundert
« on: March 08, 2009, 10:17:11 am »
This bier is not sold in Texas, and it is a fantastic helles. It was Carolyn's favorite during our Germany trip. Mark can weigh in with his opinion, too. I order it from John's Grocery online.imo, it is worth the extra cost of shipping. Jahrhundert is what Shiner 99 tried to be.

I didn't know you could get beer shipped into Texas.  This could change my life.

This stuff is probably the best German beer that doesn't look like motor oil in a pint glass. I've got a case of it stowed under lock and keep to keep my roommates away from it. Amazing. Crisp and smooth, and almost no aftertaste.

In 2005, the US Supreme Court struck down laws prohibiting interstate sales of wine directly to consumers.  This pretty much opened the way for shipment of other alcoholic beverages.  I believe you still have to have a shipment permit issued by TABC, but by and large, yes, as a consumer, you can have alcohol shipped directly to you from out of state.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
